Strengthen your resolve, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“’They do not know how to do right,’ declares the LORD…”
(Amos 3:10)

Whose fault is that, Jesus?

Is it because their leaders haven’t taught them Your ways?

O God!

Give us pastors, deacons, Sunday School teachers
small group leaders, writers, government and business leaders

who diligently teach and apply Your Word
as they faithfully discharge their duties!

But even if they do not

may each of us take personal responsibility
to learn and obey Your loving commands.

Pray this Lazaroo in ever-expanding faith:

“…his forces are beyond number…”
(Joel 2:11)

This fills me with joy, Jesus!

We humans have come up with some pretty big numbers –

not that any of us can really count that high!

But still, we know what they represent. They’re legit.

So, to try to grasp the size of Your forces

is impossible for my mind to conceive.

But it causes a great sense of comfort and protection and safety

to rise up within me.

In You
I’m safe.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“…the LORD has a charge to bring against you who live in the land…”
(Hosea 4:1)

You were reminding them of how much You had done for them, Jesus!

They were living in the land You had given them.

Through them, You evicted the previous landowners.

Now, they were committing the same sins
that brought about the eviction of their predecessors.

May I never take for granted what You’ve done for me!

May I walk with You always
in obedient humility.

Be filled with confidence, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword.”
(Revelation 2:12)

The members of Your church in Pergamum –

now the city of Bergama, Turkey –

had to hear these words with great joy, Jesus!

Back then, it was a powerful, rich city in Mysia, Greece –

where Satan had his throne.

You were reminding these stalwart followers of Yours

of the same thing You’re telling me:

I will protect you!

Great God!

Wield Your double-edged sword
against the enemy of my soul.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“…but there is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries.”
(Daniel 2:28)

Yes, there is, Jesus!

You understand every mystery that baffles us.

You’re the Creator of all.
You’re the Creator of all mysteries.

But as true as that is, that’s not what Daniel said.

He said you reveal mysteries!

Oh, Hallelujah!

Dear God:

Would it please You to reveal to our scientists
the mystery of this Coronavirus that has us by the throat?

Please.
We beg You.

Feel His loving warmth, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“But, dear friends…”
(Jude 1:17)

When somebody gets ready to correct me, Jesus

I prefer it to be as a “dear friend.”

Jude wasn’t lying.

That’s how he truly felt toward his brothers and sisters in You.

But You’re the One who gave these words to Jude

to share with us.

With me.

That’s how You see me, isn’t it?

Not only as a person You’ve created,
as a sheep in Your flock

but as Your dearly-loved

Personal friend.

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“…the sound of the wings of the living creatures brushing against each other and the sound of the wheels beside them, a loud rumbling sound.”
(Ezekiel 3:13)

Does it get any more powerful than this, Jesus? Any more life-changing?

These visions You gave Ezekiel give me
a glimpse of what awaits me in heaven –

because I’ve put my faith and trust in You.

I didn’t get to see and hear what Ezekiel saw and heard –

but one day I will!

Pray this Lazaroo with catalytic dedication:

“We ought therefore…”
(3 John 1:8)

Three powerful words, Jesus!

How many times have You shown me truth
without seeing me act on it?

I hope none.
But I know better.

Sometimes I file it away to act on later
and never get around to doing so.

Not only that.

But that word “we” is meant to turn me into an evangelist.

The truth You so graciously share with me
is meant for everyone to act on, as well.

Pray this Lazaroo with unvarnished transparency:

“My groans are many…”
(Lamentations 1:22)

I can usually do a lot of groaning

before I realize it, Jesus.

Other people might complain about my complaints

while they only seem justified to me.

But when I’m the one who notices I’m doing a lot of groaning

that’s an indication that things have become

pretty intense.

Do You get tired of hearing me groan, Father?

Or are You waiting for me to turn them
into believing, trusting, heartfelt prayers?

Pray this Lazaroo with renewed resolve:

“As you have heard…”
(2 John 1:6)

Why do I cringe when I hear those words, Jesus?

Probably because I realize
I’m about to be reminded.

Usually, the reason I’m being reminded

is I didn’t pay attention the first time.

Of course, I may have paid attention the first time

and didn’t want to do it

or had something else going on
I wanted to finish first.

Or maybe I just procrastinated.

Wow.

All that sounds pretty lame.
