Pray this Lazaroo with renewed faith:

“Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: ‘An enemy will overrun your land, pull down your strongholds and plunder your fortresses.’”
(Amos 3:11)

When we keep sinning and sinning and sinning, Jesus…

when we continually ignore Your Voice, calling us to return to You…

there’s always a “therefore,” isn’t there?

I dare not mistake your patience for powerlessness.

I don’t want enemies to overrun my land
pull down my strongholds
plunder my fortresses.

I’ve got to repent and turn it around.

Now.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“The day of the Lord is great; it is dreadful. Who can endure it?”
(Joel 2:11)

Those who think this world will forever continue as it is are mistaken, Jesus.

You’re giving us countless chances to stop our sinning
to turn wholeheartedly to You.

But the end of all things as we know them is drawing near.

Our wickedness is mounting up to the skies.

You’re about to come down here with Your saints and angels

and clean things up.

Pray this Lazaroo with all your heart:

“…the LORD has a charge to bring against you…: ‘There is…no love…’”
(Hosea 4:1)

Of course, there’s love of a kind, Jesus…

just not true love.

We love things –

often, the wrong things.

We love what we can get out of people

instead of loving the people who give.

We say we love You

but words are cheap.

To love You means to obey You.

and that’s expensive!

Of course, it also pays off –

for those who have faith.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“I know where you live – where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name. You did not renounce your faith in me…”
(Revelation 2:13)

That’s the ultimate test, isn’t it, Jesus?

Most people can remain true to Your Name
when surrounded by Your faithful followers.

But how many people are able to stand like a rock for You
when there are Jesus-haters everywhere they look?

I don’t know.
But I want to be one of them.

Trust God alone as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Your dream and the visions that passed through your mind…are these…”
(Daniel 2:28)

If somebody said that to me, Jesus

I’d be skeptical.

After all, my thoughts are private, known only to me.

Well…that’s not entirely true.
You know my every thought, vision and dream.

For somebody to tell them to me with 100%, detailed accuracy

they’d have to be directly in touch with You.

If that ever happens

I might want to listen to what else they have to say.

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“…remember what the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ foretold.”
(Jude 1:17)

Why would Jude tell me to remember their words, Jesus?

Only one reason:

Because what they foretold will come true.

As with Your prophets down through the ages

You reveal the future to Your people through Your apostles.

Of course, just because people call themselves prophets or apostles

doesn’t mean they’re the real deal.

People don’t appoint themselves to these high offices.

Only You have that right.

Pray this Lazaroo with Holy Spirit-inspired discernment:

“…I went in bitterness and in the anger of my spirit, with the strong hand of the LORD upon me.”
(Ezekiel 3:14)

It’s seldom a good idea to go anywhere when I’m bitter, Jesus.

Even less so with an angry spirit.

But when You’re the one whose strong hand is creating both

look out, sin-ridden destination!

They’re about to find out what You can do to disrupt and destroy

through Your unworthy, chosen instrument.

Use me, LORD!
Use me!

Pray this Lazaroo in recommitment:

“…show hospitality to such people…”
(3 John 1:8)

Hospitality.

That’s a strong word, Jesus!

It’s more than feeling warm toward someone.

It’s more than saying nice words.

It’s action.

It calls for sharing what I have
investing time in them.

To whom would You like me to show hospitality?

People who are faithful to the truth.
Those who continue to walk in the truth.

Believers who show love to other Christians
who spread the good news of Your salvation.

Pray this Lazaroo in solemn determination:

“How the Lord has covered Daughter Zion with the cloud of his anger!”
(Lamentations 2:1)

That’s not the kind of cloud cover I want to be under, Jesus.

If there’s one thing I know
You’re slow to anger.

If You weren’t
I’d have been fried a long time ago.

So when You’re covering a person – or a whole group of people –

with a cloud of Your anger

that tells me they’ve been trying Your patience

for a very long time.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“…his command is that you walk in love.”
(2 John 1:6)

Most of us do a better job of talking in love, Jesus

than walking in love.

Loving words are easy.
Loving behavior is hard.

It’s not love when it’s something I already like to do.

That’s convenience.
Self-pleasure.

Love begins

where preference ends.

It’s love when I do something for another person

that if I had my druthers

I’d never do for myself or anyone else
in a thousand years.
