Pray this Lazaroo with white-hot fervor:

“Away from me, all you who do evil, for the Lord has heard my weeping. The Lord has heard my cry for mercy; the Lord accepts my prayer.”
(Psalms 6:8-9)

I’m so glad You hear my weeping, Jesus.

I try not to weep.
I want to be strong.
I don’t want to be a complainer.

But even when I keep it bottled up so no one knows

You hear my silent weeping
from deep within my soul.

Thank You!

Pray this Lazaroo with new understanding:

“Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus…”
(Philemon 1:23)

Misery loves company, Jesus.

That got Epaphras a mention in the pages of Scripture!

But as much as it helps to have someone else suffering like I am

it’s a whole ‘nuther level when we’re both suffering
because of our love for You.

That’s a brotherhood…a sisterhood –

a bond so strong that no words can do it justice!

To find someone else who loves You that much

is priceless.

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil.”
(Job 3:26)

You allowed Job to suffer in a way that few, if any of us have, Jesus!

All his children were killed at once
leaving him only his critical, heartless wife.

Without warning, he went from vast riches to total poverty
in a single day.

He went from being most respected to ridiculed.
Even his closest friends turned against him.

May I never again complain!

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intensity:

“…the older women…can train the younger women…to be self-controlled…”
(Titus 2:3-5)

Yes, they can, Jesus…

provided the older women are themselves self-controlled.

It’s somewhat difficult
to teach something you don’t do.

It’s also extremely helpful for younger women
to see self-control modeled day after day.

Of course, the other side of the equation

is that the younger women must be willing to be taught.

Self-control is hard!

They’ve got to passionately desire it
and be willing to pay the price.

Beg God for supernatural discernment, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“After these events, King Xerxes honored Haman…”
(Esther 3:1)

You don’t tell us why the king honored this awful man, Jesus.

Maybe it was because of Haman’s family connections.
Perhaps the king’s advisers thought it was a good idea.
Maybe Haman possessed skills the king needed.

But honoring Haman was an absolutely atrocious decision

because the man was evil to the bone.

Help me never forget, LORD:

If a person is great in every area except character

they’re poison.

Be overcome with gratitude as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…if we are faithless, he will remain faithful…”
(2 Timothy 2:13)

Could there ever be greater evidence of Your love, Jesus?

Of Your mercy?
Of Your forgiveness?
Of Your kindness?
Of Your patience?
Of Your longsuffering?

Or of Your sovereignty!

Another way to look at it is that nothing I do
can change what You do
nor who You are!

You are faithful. Period.

That’s what I, too, as Your grateful follower
with all my heart aspire to be.

Pray this Lazaroo remembering…anticipating:

“…the steps going down from the City of David.”
(Nehemiah 3:15)

Jerusalem…Zion…Ariel…the Holy City…the City of David and of God.

Oh, how You love that spot on earth, Jesus!
So do I!

You –

mourned for her
taught in her streets
entered before cheering crowds
were arrested and stood trial there
were crucified outside her gates
rose to life from one of her tombs
will return one day – soon! –
through her Eastern Gate.

Take it to heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety…”
(1 Timothy 2:9)

Paul had just finished telling the men what he wanted them to do, Jesus –

lifting up holy hands in prayer
without anger or disputing.

Now, he’s asking the women of the church

to dress in a way that glorifies You.

My guess is he’s correcting the shortcomings of each. 😉

Do I need to correct any of this, LORD?

Wholehearted worship
anger
disputing
dressing modestly?

Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“…many…wept aloud…while many others shouted for joy.”
(Ezra 3:12)

Same event, Jesus:

the laying of the foundation of the second temple.

Some wept, remembering, overcome with emotion.

Others were so happy they shouted.

That’s who we are, isn’t it?

We react differently because of what’s inside us.

Fill me with Yourself, Holy Spirit!

Put everything inside me You want to be there!
Fill me up with Your holy Word!

So what comes out of me
will consistently glorify You.

Pray this Lazaroo with bold determination:

“…hold to the teachings we passed on to you…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:15)

That’s the secret, isn’t it, Jesus?

If the priceless truths you shared with my elders are to benefit me
I’ve got to hold on to them with fierce tenacity!

The enemy of my soul will do everything he can

to pry them out of my grasp.

Then with equal fervor,

I’ve got to equip and inspire those who come after me
to hold on for dear life!
