Pray this Lazaroo with undiluted sincerity:

“…make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind.”
(Philippians 2:2)

My mind is different from everyone else’s Jesus.

But You don’t command us to be identical.
You’re urging us to be alike.

When my love for You

is shared by my brothers and sisters

when my spirit of openness to all You desire
is matched by their passionate attitudes

being of one mind is the happy result.

Pray this Lazaroo with explosive feeling:

“When the news reached Joab, who had conspired with Adonijah though not with Absalom, he fled to the tent of the Lord and took hold of the horns of the altar.”
(1 Kings 2:28)

When he sided with David against Absalom, Jesus

Joab chose well the first time.

But when he threw in his lot with Adonijah against Solomon

that was his undoing.

What was his mistake?

Depending on his own calculations
instead of checking to see who You had chosen.

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations.”
(Ephesians 2:14-15)

What two groups, Jesus?

The Jews and everybody else –

brought together by faith in You, their Messiah.

When You died on the cross and rose from the grave three days later

You replaced the demands of the law…

with Yourself.

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“…every man stopped when he came to the place where Asahel had fallen and died.”
(2 Samuel 2:23)

There’s death everywhere on the battlefield, Jesus.

Why stop over Asahel’s body?
Because he was General Joab’s brother.

Not only the prominent – but everyone’s death matters to You!

It should to me

especially because it raises the most important question of all:

“Did they go to heaven or hell?”

The answer? Heaven –

but only if they had put their trust in You.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“…we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified.”
(Galatians 2:16)

I keep forgetting this, Jesus!

Should I obey You?
Absolutely!

But You don’t want me living in fear when I sin

as though my place in heaven with You is in jeopardy.

Do I believe in You with all my heart?

Yes!!!

Then…

I’m in.

Ask God to do it again, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“But even before the fat was burned, the priest’s servant would come and say to the person who was sacrificing, ‘Give the priest some meat to roast; he won’t accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.’”
(1 Samuel 2:15)

That was in blatant disregard to Your command, Jesus!

The people knew it…but they couldn’t do anything about it.

So You removed those who were abusing their power

and replaced them with Samuel
who obeyed You with all his heart.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.”
(2 Corinthians 2:14)

I’m Your willing captive, Jesus!

I surrender all.

March me anywhere You like.

Use me in any way You desire.

Do with me whatever You please.

I say this because I’ve learned the hard way:

You alone know what’s best.

Your way?

An aromatic fragrance.

My way?

A putrid stench.

Pray this Lazaroo in zealous love:

“May the Lord repay you for what you have done. May you be richly rewarded by the Lord, the God of Israel, under whose wings you have come to take refuge.”
(Ruth 2:12)

Under Your wings, Jesus!

That’s the only place I want to live.

I don’t want anything You don’t want me to have.
I have no desire to do anything You don’t want me to do.
I refuse to go anywhere You don’t want me to go.

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has freely given us.”
(1 Corinthians 2:12)

So, Jesus:

You’re telling me that people who have only the spirit of the world
can’t understand what You’ve freely given those who trust You.

That makes sense.

It also explains the blank stares I get from those tied to this world

when I tell them about You.
