Pray this Lazaroo with self-evaluation:

“Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you greetings. And so do Mark, Aristarchus, Demas and Luke…”
(Philemon 1:23-24)

Everybody wanted in on the greetings, Jesus.

And no wonder!

Philemon was a wealthy leader in Your early Church
deeply respected by the other believers.

I can’t help but wonder, though…

would they have been as eager to greet a poor nobody?

Would I?

Wealthy leaders receive many greetings.

But warm words mean a whole lot more
to poor nobodies.

Pray this Lazaroo in wholehearted surrender:

“If only my anguish could be weighed and all my misery be placed on the scales! It would surely outweigh the sand of the seas—no wonder my words have been impetuous.”
(Job 6:2-3)

We’re all able to find excuses for our behavior, Jesus.

Oh yeah.
I have a ton of ‘em!

We might be able to sell them to some people

but nobody’s fooling You.

Rather than excuses

please help me obey You –

no matter what it takes!

Pray this Lazaroo with obedient diligence:

“…the older women…can train the younger women…to be…busy at home…”
(Titus 2:3-5)

Of course, these older women can only train the younger women to be busy at home, Jesus

if they, too, are busy at home.

Training isn’t merely about talking.

It involves showing how it’s done.
There’s nothing like a good example!

Nor is this principle for women alone.

It’s for men, too!

Yes, homes are for relaxation and rest…

but they also require a lot of work.

Pray this Lazaroo with holy boldness:

“Then the royal officials at the king’s gate asked Mordecai, ‘Why do you disobey the king’s command?’”
(Esther 3:3)

The answer was simple, Jesus:

Haman was a wicked man who did not deserve to be honored.

But that wasn’t even the biggest reason.

Mordecai wasn’t about to bow down to anyone but You.
The fact that it was the king who ordered it was irrelevant

even though it might cost Mordecai his life.

May that kind of holy courage be mine!

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful humility:

“…if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself.”
(2 Timothy 2:13)

This boggles my mind, Jesus.

When I deserve to be kicked to the curb
or tossed in the trash bin

You stay true to me
because warts and all
I belong to You!

First of all –

HALLELUJAH!

What love! What hope! What joy!
What a sense of security is mine!

And what an example You’ve set for me

to treat my disgraceful Christian brothers and sisters.

Pray this Lazaroo with a responsive, willing heart:

“Next to him, the repairs were made by the Levites…”
(Nehemiah 3:17)

The Levites were incredibly busy, Jesus.

Their hands were already full!

They had to prepare to sing Psalms during Temple services

they performed construction and maintenance for the Temple
they served as guards, teachers and judges
and it was their responsibility to maintain the cities of refuge.

But they were needed, so they helped!

May that be my spirit

no matter how busy I think I am.

Pray this Lazaroo with a strong desire to please God:

“I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes…”
(1 Timothy 2:9)

I know some women who would be offended by this, Jesus.

They’re all about elaborate hairstyles, expensive jewelry and designer clothing.

It’s not really about those things, though, is it?

When she has a passionate heart for You

a Godly woman can make a gunny sack
look like a million dollars.

Watch your step! as you pray this Lazaroo:

“When the enemies of Judah and Benjamin heard that the exiles were building a temple for the Lord, the God of Israel, they… said, ‘Let us help you build because, like you, we seek your God…’”
(Ezra 4:1-2)

It’s a fact, Jesus:

Your enemies will sometimes pretend to be my friends.

Oh, how I need Your guidance, Holy Spirit!

Help me see through them!

May I never be so desperate for friends

that I fall for their lying deception.

Cherish it! as you pray this Lazaroo:

“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:16)

That’s the beauty of it, Jesus.

You’re not sequestering Yourself in heaven
away from all the riff-raff, distant and aloof.

You created me.
You know me intimately.
You care about me and every aspect of my life.

You live in me in the Person of the Holy Spirit!

You’ll never leave me nor forsake me.

It is my unspeakably awesome privilege

to enjoy deep, daily, moment-by-moment
1on1 relationship with You.

Pray this Lazaroo with breathtaking anticipation:

“The wings of these cherubim extended twenty cubits. They stood on their feet, facing the main hall.”
(2 Chronicles 3:13)

These gold-covered, sculpted cherubim stretching 30 feet from wall to wall in the Most Holy Place had to be a stunning sight, Jesus!

but only a pale shadow of the mighty angels
who stand before Your throne in heaven!

What I see here is only a hint of the stunning beauty and majesty

that await my eyes and ears where I’ll spend eternity!
