Pray this Lazaroo with a heart that hungers for God:

“…I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people…”
(Ephesians 3:8)

Paul knew the murderous evil he had done, Jesus.

He knew You were aware of it, too

along with countless others.

His reputation among some of Your followers was great

but for good reason
others of Your people hated and feared him.

Sometimes a person’s past behavior gives them away

but with others it’s all in the past.

O Holy Spirit!
How I need Your discernment!

Pray this Lazaroo with white-hot fervor:

“Ish-Bosheth did not dare to say another word to Abner, because he was afraid of him. Then Abner sent messengers on his behalf to say to David…Make an agreement with me, and I will help you bring all Israel over to you.’ ‘Good,’ said David. ‘I will make an agreement with you.’”
(2 Samuel 3:11-13)

Ish-Bosheth had good reason to be afraid of his general, Jesus…

because Abner was about to betray him.

Who among those I trust is about to betray me?

You know.
I’d like to know, too.

Pray this Lazaroo with total transparency:

“In your teaching show…soundness of speech…”
(Titus 2:7-8)

You’re not talking about the rules of grammar, are You, Jesus?

You’re telling me not to present speculation as fact.
You’re telling me to be kind toward others.
You’re telling me to speak with humility.
You’re telling me to stick to the truth.

I may not be the best speaker in the world.

What I have to say may not always be interesting.

But with Your help
I can do that.

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“Dispatches were sent by couriers to all the king’s provinces with the order to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews—young and old, women and children—on a single day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month of Adar, and to plunder their goods.”
(Esther 3:13)

How could such an evil thing happen, Jesus –

especially to Your chosen people?

It was because You were about to rescue them
and also destroy their enemies!

Help me to remember that

next time something evil shows up at my door.

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intensity:

“Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.”
(2 Timothy 2:16)

Show me, Jesus:

Exactly what is godless chatter?

Surely that doesn’t mean that every conversation I have with anyone
has to be about You or what’s in the Bible.

No. That’s not it.

But You don’t want me to engage in the kind of talk

that leads people away from You
that disrespects the principles found in Your Word.

To avoid that

I need to stay connected to You.

Pray this Lazaroo with no-holds-barred surrender:

“Malkijah, one of the goldsmiths, made repairs as far as the house of the temple servants and the merchants, opposite the Inspection Gate, and as far as the room above the corner; and between the room above the corner and the Sheep Gate the goldsmiths and merchants made repairs.”
(Nehemiah 3:31-32)

These were artisans and shopkeepers, Jesus – not builders.

But the wall of Your city was broken down!
So they did what had to be done.

No matter what I prefer to do

may I always be willing to do what needs to be done.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble circumspection:

“Here is a trustworthy saying: Whoever aspires to be an overseer desires a noble task.”
(1 Timothy 3:1)

It’s natural, Jesus –

to look at what one of Your leaders is doing and think:

“I’d like to do that!”

It’s a noble thing to want to serve You.

They are to be commended, encouraged, helped,
guided, taught, prayed over.

But O God!

May only those You’ve truly called pursue that course

because in truth

they know not what they ask.

Pray this Lazaroo with Godly skepticism:

“In these records you will find that this city is a rebellious city, troublesome to kings and provinces, a place with a long history of sedition. That is why this city was destroyed. We inform the king that if this city is built and its walls are restored, you will be left with nothing in Trans-Euphrates.”
(Ezra 4:15-16)

This was a setup by the enemies of Your people, Jesus!

Next time somebody attempts to trash someone to me

remind me to ask You:

Why would they want to do that?

Pray this Lazaroo with deep desire:

“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:16-17)

I need to pray that prayer over those I love, Jesus!

Some of them desperately need You to encourage their hearts.

I would love for someone to pray that prayer over me, too.

You know what’s going on in my heart.
You know how much I need Your encouragement!

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“All the objects that Huram-Abi made for King Solomon for the temple of the Lord were of polished bronze. The king had them cast in clay molds in the plain of the Jordan…All these things…amounted to so much that the weight of the bronze could not be calculated.”
(2 Chronicles 4:16-18)

Whatever I do for You, spend for You, sacrifice for You, Jesus

is never enough!

But oh, the joy of giving my all

knowing my all

is all You require!
