 Pray this Lazaroo with self-awareness:

“Do not refuse me.”
(1 Kings 2:16)

What do I think when somebody uses that line on me, Jesus?

I feel a little anxious.

If they’re afraid I’m going to turn down their request

it occurs to me that maybe I should.

Of course, as Adonijah was doing to Bathsheba

they’re saying it to set me up –
appealing to my desire to be liked, to be seen as a generous person.

On Bathsheba, it worked.

Open my eyes, LORD!

Don’t let that stuff work on me.
