Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“Then they will cry out to the Lord, but he will not answer them. At that time he will hide his face from them because of the evil they have done.”
(Micah 3:4)

Is there anything more terrifying, Jesus

than to call out to You for help
while knowing You won’t answer?

I have sinned times beyond counting.

But I repent!
You know how hard I’m trying.

Great God of love, mercy and forgiveness:

Though I thoroughly deserve it
please don’t hide Your face from me!

Pray this Lazaroo in devoted passion:

“When Jonah’s warning reached the king of Nineveh, he rose from his throne, took off his royal robes, covered himself with sackcloth…”
(Jonah 3:6)

Kings wore the finest of clothing, Jesus

made from the most expensive fabrics
tailored to fit them perfectly

designed to convey the idea that they were special –
in a different class from those wearing common attire.

But when a king donned plain, ugly sackcloth

he was totally humbling himself

which is what I do before You every day.

Pray this Lazaroo in fervent spirit:

“This is what the Sovereign Lord says about Edom…”
(Obadiah 1:1)

Edom, Jesus.

The people descended from Esau
whom You rejected in favor of his twin brother Jacob.

Though he was deeply flawed, You loved Jacob
but hated Esau – along with his descendants.

This makes me wonder:

If that’s what You said about Jacob and Esau
what do you say about me?

Whatever You didn’t like about Esau, keep from me!

But cause to rise up within me
whatever You loved about Jacob.

Be comforted – and forewarned – as you pray this Lazaroo:

“The Sovereign Lord has sworn by his holiness: ‘The time will surely come when you will be taken away with hooks, the last of you with fishhooks. You will each go straight out through breaches in the wall, and you will be cast out toward Harmon,’ declares the Lord.”
(Amos 4:2-3)

People sin and nothing happens, Jesus.

They think they got away with it

that You didn’t notice.

They think they can keep sinning without consequences.

They’re wrong.

Pray this Lazaroo with overflowing gratitude:

“Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.”
(Joel 2:13)

O Jesus!

Yes!

I never want to stray, never want to sin, never want to disappoint You.

But when I do –

for sadly, I have many times –

don’t let me stay out there in the wilderness!

Bring back this wandering sheep to You!

For You are indeed loving, gracious, compassionate!

You would far rather bless me

than punish.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“They feed on the sins of my people and relish their wickedness. And it will be: Like people, like priests. I will punish both of them for their ways and repay them for their deeds. They will eat but not have enough; they will engage in prostitution but not flourish, because they have deserted the Lord to give themselves to prostitution…”
(Hosea 4:8-10)

Remove from me every hint, every shred of that evil, Jesus!

May I hate wickedness as much as You do!

Be encouraged and corrected, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“To the angel of the church in Thyatira write: These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze. I know your deeds, your love and faith, your service and perseverance, and that you are now doing more than you did at first. Nevertheless, I have this against you…”
(Revelation 2:18-20)

You’re the Ultimate Encourager, Jesus!

But when there’s something I’m doing wrong, please tell me.

I want to know.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth. This was the dream, and now we will interpret it to the king. Your Majesty, you are the king of kings. The God of heaven has given you dominion and power and might and glory…”
(Daniel 2:35-37)

The king’s dream, Jesus!

The interpretation You gave
through one of Your all-time favorites:

Daniel.

I long to be one of Your favorites, too!

Sell out totally to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“These are the people who divide you, who follow mere natural instincts and do not have the Spirit.”
(Jude 1:19)

That’s everything, isn’t it, Jesus?

To have Your Spirit living in me
because I’ve put my trust in You alone as my Savior.

Those who live by their natural instincts don’t get it.

Their actions make that abundantly clear.

The most loving thing I can do for them

is to introduce them to You
and the indwelling Majesty of Your Holy Spirit!

Never forget it, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…when a righteous person turns from their righteousness and does evil, and I put a stumbling block before them, they will die. Since you did not warn them, they will die for their sin. The righteous things that person did will not be remembered, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.”
(Ezekiel 3:20)

I can’t just stand by and watch a good person self-destruct, Jesus.

I’ve got to do my best to get in their face, if necessary

and turn them around.
