Pray this Lazaroo with no-holds-barred gratitude:

“…during the time of testing in the wilderness…your ancestors tested and tried me, though for forty years they saw what I did.”
(Hebrews 3:8-9)

How could they do that, Jesus?

Forty years of seeing Your love, majesty and protection
and still they tested, tried and flat-out disobeyed You countless times!

The same question could be asked of me.

After all You’ve done and continue to do for me
how dare I give You anything less than my absolute best?

Pray this Lazaroo in total adoration:

“All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish; they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.”
(Psalms 6:10)

Quite a promise, Jesus.

Not just a few of David’s enemies will be suddenly overwhelmed and turn back with shame and anguish.

All of them.

Just in case I have any enemies, LORD…

how can I get in on a promise like that?

Oh.

David loved and served You passionately

then wept and cried out to You.

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus, sends you greetings.”
(Philemon 1:23)

A couple of jailbirds sending a letter to the handful of people who attend a little house church in Colossae, Jesus.

Small potatoes?
Hardly.

Since then, billions of people have read the translations of its 335 Greek words

in more than five billion Bibles
printed in more than 1,551 languages!

You’re the God who can take the little I do in Your love and strength

and make it gargantuan.

Learn from this bad example, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“If someone ventures a word with you, will you be impatient? But who can keep from speaking?”
(Job 4:2)

And so it begins to unravel, Jesus.

Job’s three friends were awesome
as long as they kept silent.

But now, Job’s friend Eliphaz can’t endure Job’s complaints without rebuking him.

Like Job, Eliphaz totally misreads what’s going on.
But that doesn’t stop him from giving his judgmental opinion.

How often have I done that, Father –

made a suffering person’s load heavier?

Pray this Lazaroo in passionate hope:

“…the older women…can train the younger women…to be…pure…”
(Titus 2:3-5)

What a blessing for our younger women, Jesus!

There’s nothing like seeing someone live it in front of me
to learn how it’s done
and witness the wholesome result.

Help me be pure, Holy Spirit!

I long to be a good example for others
but most of all to live the way You’ve called me to live.

I owe You that.

But when I do
I’m the one who wins.

Pray this Lazaroo in continuing awe:

“All the royal officials at the king’s gate knelt down and paid honor to Haman, for the king had commanded this concerning him. But Mordecai would not kneel down or pay him honor.”
(Esther 3:2)

You don’t tell us why Mordecai wouldn’t bow down to Haman, Jesus.

Maybe it was because He refused to bow down to anyone but You.
Maybe it was because He sensed Haman was an evil man.

Regardless, You used it!

…as You do absolutely everything that happens.

Pray this Lazaroo with gratitude, all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“…he cannot disown himself.”
(2 Timothy 2:13)

Do I deserve to be kicked out of Your Church, Jesus?

Yes.
You’re perfect and I’m not.

Do I deserve to be excluded from heaven?

Yes.
You’re sinless.
I’m sinful.

Do I deserve to spend eternity in hell?

Absolutely.
I have knowingly, premeditatedly sinned.
Many times.

But I remain in Your Church. I’m going to heaven, not hell!

I put my trust in You alone.

You and I
are joined at the heart.

Pray this Lazaroo with humility:

“Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler of a half-district of Beth Zur, made repairs up to a point opposite the tomb of David, as far as the artificial pool and the House of the Heroes.”
(Nehemiah 3:16)

Here’s another ruler willing to get his hands dirty, Jesus!

Maybe that’s why You lifted him into leadership.

Thank You for every person in high position

who doesn’t think they’re too good
to do whatever needs doing
no matter how menial.

Leaders like that

are easy to follow.

Seek Godly guidance, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves…”
(1 Timothy 2:9)

So You’re not against us looking good, Jesus!

That’s good to know. 😉

But You want us to do so circumspectly when in public, not suggestively.

You want us to dress appropriately for the occasion
to show some respectability, some class.

That doesn’t take a whole lot of money, does it?

When I decide what to wear each morning
may I lean on You, Holy Spirit!

Pray this Lazaroo in respectful appreciation:

“No one could distinguish the sound of the shouts of joy from the sound of weeping, because the people made so much noise. And the sound was heard far away.”
(Ezra 3:13)

What a milestone for Your people, Jesus!

The laying of the foundation of the house of the LORD!

Some were shouting for joy…some weeping for joy.

We’re all different, aren’t we?

Some cried.
Some shouted.

Same event.

May I never judge anyone for how the world appears to them.
