Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“I came to you in…fear…”
(1 Corinthians 2:3)

What, Jesus?

The great Apostle Paul approached one of his assignments

in fear?

Why?

You had worked miracle after miracle through him

like raising the dead.

I would have thought he’d be fearless!

Besides, there’s a Biblical command:
You tell us not to fear.

But obedience is one thing

emotion is another.

Like Paul, please help me obey You to the end

to the letter

no matter how much I fear.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“In his anger against Israel the LORD gave them into the hands of raiders who plundered them.”
(Judges 2:14)

I don’t want that, Jesus.

It’s bad enough when You have to take me to the woodshed.

But I’d far rather be in Your hands
than in the clutches of others.

It’s not that Your punishment is weak.

It isn’t.

But as much as Your discipline hurts, it’s saturated with mercy

never even close to as much
as I deserve.

Be forewarned, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“They have become filled with every kind of…greed…”
(Romans 1:29)

So how many kinds of greed are there, Jesus?

There’s the kind that wants more than my share
out of fear that the day may come when I won’t have enough.

There’s the kind that takes what belongs to others
because I want to have more than them.

There’s the kind that piles it up
because having that much makes me feel more important

than I really am.

Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“As for anyone who is in the house with you…”
(Joshua 2:19)

They’re a greater responsibility, aren’t they, Jesus?

More than people at work, or on the street
more than acquaintances or friends.

But what can I do?

If they’re young, I have some control
though not as much as I think.

But the older they are, the less my influence.

The day comes when the only true impact I have on them
is my sincere, consistent, Godly example.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“‘In the last days,’ God says, ‘I will pour out my Spirit on all people.’”
(Acts 2:17)

I sure hope these are the last days, Jesus

because we desperately need You
to pour out Your Spirit on all people!

including this person.

No, I don’t deserve You to do that for me.

You know that.

But I would love it, if in Your mercy, You would.

So would the people who live and work around me. 😉

Pray this Lazaroo in Spirit-renewed determination:

“When the LORD heard what you said, he was angry…”
(Deuteronomy 1:34)

May my words never do that to You, Jesus!

Of course, to keep that from happening
I need to guard my thoughts, as well.

It might help, too, if I make sure I’m following You every step of the way

‘cause when my 1on1 relationship with You slips
so does my tongue.

As you monitor my thoughts, words and actions

may You beam with pride and joy!

Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable belief:

“‘Come,’ he replied, ‘and you will see.’”
(John 1:39)

You provide me with all the evidence I need to follow You, Jesus

before I take a single step.

But when I wait too long

when I keep demanding more and more proof
before I’m willing to move

that’s not caution.

It’s unbelief.

There’s a point at which I have to take action, move out in faith.

Only then will You show me
infinitely more than I could have imagined.

Pray this Lazaroo in signed-up gratitude:

“The Merarites were appointed to take care of the frames of the tabernacle…”
(Numbers 3:36)

What an honor to have been a Merarite, Jesus!

To think that Your tabernacle was standing
because of me.

You didn’t need the Merarites.
You’re all-powerful.

You could have made Your tabernacle stand
without asking them to lift a finger.

Instead, You did a glorious thing:

You invited them to be part of bringing You glory

as You are doing right now
with me.

Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“But why am I so favored…?”
(Luke 1:43)

There’s a simple, life-changing answer to Elizabeth’s question, Jesus:

“Because that’s who You are!”

It’s not only Elizabeth who’s favored.

I’m favored, too!
as is everyone who calls on Your Name.

If I have eyes to see it, Your favor is everywhere I look:

in the obvious blessings that just “happen” to come my way
in the blessings You secret within trials, heartaches and pain.

O God!

Why am I so favored?

Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“When a leader sins unintentionally…”
(Leviticus 4:22)

And who is more likely to sin, Jesus?

The leader is on point, taking the majority of the risks.
The pressure is greater, the responsibilities magnified.

With all that going on – even with a diligent leader –
mistakes will be made.

Still, the leader has no excuse.

He or she is guilty. Period.
Correction has to be made…if possible, restitution.

Even then, they still lead – showing the way

for their unintentionally sinning followers.
