Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“…the LORD your God, who went ahead of you on your journey…to search out places for you…”
(Deuteronomy 1:32-33)

You didn’t do that for Israel alone, did You, Jesus?

You’ve done if for me.
You’re still doing it for me.
You do it for everyone who trusts in You alone.

I still get to experience the journey.
I still get to make every choice I want to make.

But there’s nowhere I choose to go
that You haven’t already been.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“Turning around, Jesus saw them…”
(John 1:38)

What must that have been like, Jesus –

the first time these two men locked eyes with You?

It was a life-changer for Andrew

but what about the other man?
Why didn’t John give us his name?

Did he continue to follow You, faithfully serving in a behind-the-scenes role?

Or did he fail to see what Andrew did
and go back to his ordinary life?

Not me, Jesus.

I refuse to go back.

Pray this Lazaroo with gratitude and respect:

“To Merari belonged the clans of the Mahlites and the Mushites; these were the Merarite clans.”
(Numbers 3:33)

Merari wasn’t famous, Jesus.

Most people have no idea who he was.
Few can pronounce his name.
Parents don’t name their sons after him.

But He was a big deal to You.

You gave him an important, behind-the-scenes job
which he carried out with diligence.

With all my heart, Father:

Thank you for the Merarites among us!

the true church heroes.

Pray this Lazaroo in gratitude:

“…she entered Zechariah’s home and greeted Elizabeth.”
(Luke 1:39)

Mary couldn’t wait to go to Elizabeth, Jesus.

Here she was, an unmarried virgin, pregnant with You.
Nobody – before or since – has been in Your mother’s shoes.

But Elizabeth was close.

Although past the age of childbearing
she was also pregnant with a miracle child.

Everyone’s relationship with You is unique, Jesus.

But thanks for putting people in my life
with whom I can – at least a little – relate. 😉

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“…they will be forgiven.”
(Leviticus 4:20)

Forgiveness is an awesome thing, Jesus.

That’s the only reason I’m able to spend this 1on1 time with You.

So why is it so hard for me to be happy that You’re willing to forgive those who’ve deeply hurt me?

I know I’m supposed to.
And I try.

But the idea of them getting away scot free for what they did to me

galls me.

Help me!

I want to forgive like You.

Pray this Lazaroo with desperation:

“Be clean!”
(Mark 1:41)

Taken out of context, that sounds like another command I can’t obey, Jesus.

But it’s not.

You weren’t telling that leprous man to make himself clean.

You were commanding the leprosy to disappear.
You were ordering Satan to leave him alone.

You were exercising Your miraculous power
to erase that poor man’s agony.

I keep failing You in the same old ways, Jesus.

I beg You!

Command this leprosy in my soul to

“Be clean!”

Pray this Lazaroo with wholehearted adoration:

“When you have brought the people out of Egypt…”
(Exodus 3:12)

That has to be one of the most awesome things about following You, Jesus:

It’s never “if.”
It’s always “when.”

Not “if” You’ll see me through this latest hardship…

but “when.”

Not “if” I’ll receive everything I need from You to become the person You’ve created me to be…

but “when.”

Not “if” I’ll live in heaven forever with You when my life here is done…

but “when.”

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“…you will be like God…”
(Genesis 3:5)

Satan uses that lie to get me to sin, Jesus

because that’s the lie he told himself
when he rebelled against You

and it blew up in his face.

The more I sin

the less I look like You
the more I look like Satan.

If I want to be like You

I’ve got to reject Satan’s lies
ignore his false promises

and follow closely after You
every step of the way.

Be inspired to greatness as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…nothing false was found on his lips.”
(Malachi 2:6)

High praise, Jesus.

In fact, behavior supposedly that amazing is almost always overstated
unless – as in this case – the declaration comes from You.

Which means Levi was quite a guy.

It’s tough to pull off flawless honesty in public

nearly impossible to maintain it in private.

But You saw him 24/7

at his worst, at his best
and watched him pass every test.

Make me another Levi, LORD!

Starting now.
