Pray this Lazaroo with bulldog faith:

“…the horseman will not save his life.”
(Amos 2:15)

You’re my only hope, Jesus.

If things go south
I can’t hop on my horse
ride away and hide.

No horse can gallop that fast.
No hideaway can’t be found.

Except You.

You’re my deliverer.
You’re my Rock.

You’re my salvation.
You’re my rescuer – faster than a speeding bullet.

When I’m in You, no one can catch me.

When I hide myself in You
I can’t be found.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“…nothing escapes them.”
(Joel 2:3)

This is bone-chilling, Jesus.

When You send punishment
nothing escapes.

You don’t do a half-way, hit-or-miss job.
It gets done.

Punishment delivered…
in full.

But all You need is my, sincere, heartfelt apology

coupled with genuine repentance –
an about-face in my actions

to deliver me from Your wrath.

You look straight into my heart.
You see whether or not I fully intend to follow You.

That’s all it takes
for You to give me another chance.

Pray this Lazaroo with full-on ardor:

“I will show my love…”
(Hosea 2:23)

If I have a loving emotion I don’t express, what good is it, Jesus?

You’ve taught me that love is action:

It’s patient and kind.
It doesn’t envy or boast.
It’s not proud.

It’s not rude, self-seeking or easily-angered.
It keeps no record of wrongs.
It rejoices in the truth, not in evil.

It always protects, trusts
hopes, perseveres.
Love never fails.

Please help me follow Your example

and show my love.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name…”
 (Revelation 2:3)

A lot of people have persevered over a long period of time, Jesus.

Many have endured unimaginable hardships.

All for naught.

What I do doesn’t matter nearly as much

as why I do it.

Whatever I do for my fame, my comfort, my pleasure

has a very short shelf life.

But when I hang in there without quitting

when I go through hell on earth

for You

the rewards are eternal.

Stand in awe of God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever…he sets up kings …”
(Daniel 2:20-21)

Just one more reminder, Jesus:

You…Are All-Powerful.

Kings are the most powerful people on earth.

They answer to no one.
They are mind-blowingly wealthy.
If they want something, they get it.
On a whim, they can spare or end someone’s life.
Not only are they above the law…they are the law.

But no one gets to be a king

unless You say so.

Pray this Lazaroo in bedrock-deep resolve:

“They are clouds without rain, blown along by the wind…”
(Jude 1:13)

People like this are nearly impossible to live with, Jesus!

They say one thing one day
something else the next.

They stand for nothing
fall for anything.

They stick up a wet finger
to determine which way the latest puff of air is blowing.

Their current position
depends on whoever they were last with.

May I never, never, ever!

be counted among their

unstable
unreliable
wishy-washy midst.

Pray this Lazaroo with catalytic dedication:

“…speak my words to them.”
(Ezekiel 3:4)

Is there any holier privilege, Jesus –

than to know Your Word
and share it with others?

Perhaps I take it for granted.

If so, please remind me
that billions of people on this planet cannot.

Have I ever passed up such an opportunity –
one You’ve lovingly, strategically provided?

I’m sure I have

for fear
because I wasn’t paying attention.

May I not be guilty of such an inexcusable omission

in 2016.

Pray this Lazaroo with undying love:

“I pray…”
(3 John 1:2)

O Jesus!

As I plunge into this New Year
may this increasingly be true of me:

I pray.

Not past tense –

something I did for a while
got discouraged, distracted, disappointed

lost focus

then quit.

Not future tense –

something I sincerely mean to get around to
as soon as I get the chance

unless, of course, something comes up.

But something I do present tense –

come rain or shine throughout the day
every day.
