Pray this Lazaroo in tearful gratitude:

“…the one who now holds it back…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:7)

Praise Your holy, loving, merciful, powerful Name, LORD Jesus!

for being the God who “holds it back.”

Just as You held back the waters of the Red Sea so Your people could safely cross

You hold back the punishment due me for my sins
You hold back the evil that threatens to destroy me

You hold back the exposure of my worst flaws
that would cause everyone around me to withdraw in disgust.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“You can then take them up to Jerusalem.”
(2 Chronicles 2:16)

Hiram was talking about logs, Jesus

just logs.

So why take up space in Your eternal Word to tell me about logs?

Because when the logs are for You
they’re never “just logs.”

They become more.

Ennobled by their high and holy purpose
they themselves become holy.

That’s kinda nice to know

since I’m dedicating myself
my every ability
all I possess
all that I am

to You.

Ask God to show it to you straight, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…how…righteous…we were among you…”
(1 Thessalonians 2:10)

When a righteous person walks into the room, things often get quiet, Jesus.

There’s respect, yes
maybe fear

more than a little nervousness…discomfort.

Why?

Perhaps because a righteous person reminds us of our own

unrighteousness.

Do I long for Your righteousness to rise within me, LORD?

There’s a lot of downward pressure from my culture
even from some close to me

to just be one of the crowd.

Time to choose.

Pray this Lazaroo in heightened motivation:

“They performed their duties according to the regulations laid down for them.”
(1 Chronicles 6:32)

A lot of us perform our duties, Jesus

sort of.

Sometimes we do them

sometimes we do at them.

Here’s my problem, LORD:

quite a few of my duties
aren’t all that much fun

which tempts me to do them halfheartedly
a temptation to which I succumb

all too often.

I’ve gotta clean that that up, don’t I?

You deserve my best
every time.

Pray this Lazaroo with explosive feeling:

“…he is the beginning and the firstborn from among the dead, so that in everything he might have the supremacy.”
(Colossians 1:18)

You don’t just act, Jesus…

You act with purpose.

You’re the first to rise from the dead, never to die again.

All the others You raised from the dead
had to taste death a second time.

Y’know…dying is tough enough to do once.

I don’t think I’d care to do it again.

I prefer to follow in Your footsteps. 😉

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Joram son of Ahab became king of Israel…and he reigned twelve years.”
(2 Kings 3:1)

I read this and move on, Jesus

not thinking about how it felt to Joram.

How excited he must have been to become the next king!

His dad was in power 22 years.
No doubt he believed he could easily top that.

But he didn’t.

How long will I reign over my little kingdom, LORD?

You alone know!
Help me make it count.

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“…through my being with you again your joy in Christ Jesus will overflow…”
(Philippians 1:26)

I long to have that effect on others, Jesus!

to be the bearer of good news
to be used by You to draw others close to You.

Ironically, that sometimes requires me to start with the bad news

that they – like I – are sinners who need to repent
that refusal to repent and believe in Your

death
burial
resurrection

will land them eternally in hell.
