Pray this Lazaroo bursting with confidence:

“When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, ‘What are those feeble Jews doing’”
(Nehemiah 4:1-2)

To my enemies, Jesus

I may look feeble.

But if my enemies are Your enemies

my enemies are underestimating what You’re able to do

through one of Your feeble followers
who puts all my trust in You.

Pray this Lazaroo in deepened understanding:

“…the overseer is to be above reproach…”
(1 Timothy 3:2)

You’ve set the overseer bar awfully high, Jesus

and for good reason.

If the overseer stumbles or falls, it’s a domino effect:

A whole lot of people can get hurt.

That’s why Satan relentlessly and ferociously attacks the overseer –

along with their family, friends and ministries, isn’t it?

To be above reproach
doesn’t mean to be above attack.

During the time You walked this earth

constant attack

is exactly what Satan did to You.

Pray this Lazaroo with keen anticipation:

“The letter you sent us has been read and translated in my presence. I issued an order and a search was made, and it was found that this city has a long history of revolt against kings and has been a place of rebellion and sedition.”
(Ezra 4:18-19)

They found what they looked for, Jesus.

If I’m looking for something bad in someone

I’ll probably find it.

If I’m looking for something good in the same person

there it will be.

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen you…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:16-17)

Oh, do I need Your strength, Jesus!

Strength to obey You no matter what.
S
trength to bear up under the hard times.
Strength to stay true to You during the good times.
Strength to overcome Satan’s temptations.
Strength to stay faithful to You…

right up to the moment You call me home.

Pray this Lazaroo with utter abandon:

“When all the work Solomon had done for the temple of the Lord was finished, he brought in the things his father David had dedicated—the silver and gold and all the furnishings—and he placed them in the treasuries of God’s temple.”
(2 Chronicles 5:1)

Father and son working together, Jesus

to honor You.

Although that’s beautiful

it doesn’t always happen.

But You’re my Father

and I’m Your child.

What do you say let’s work together
to bring glory to Your holy Name!

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“So when we could stand it no longer…”
(1 Thessalonians 3:1)

I love knowing that Paul had that emotion, Jesus!

But it was more than mere emotion, wasn’t it?
You were moving on his heart to do something about it –

which is exactly what he did.

Work through my emotions too, LORD!

May they not be unreliable, leading me astray.
May they instead be guided by You

goading me, prompting me, pushing me, driving me

to do the very things You’ve called me to do!

Pray this Lazaroo with deep conviction:

“The sons of Ulam were brave warriors who could handle the bow. They had many sons and grandsons—150 in all.”
(1 Chronicles 8:40)

The ability to handle a bow is a gift, Jesus.

Without that gift, no one can be great at it.

But just because I’ve been given a gift

doesn’t mean I don’t have to develop it
and practice, practice, practice.

Show me the gifts You’ve given me, Holy Spirit!

and give me the determination to develop them
to their full, life-changing potential.

Pray this Lazaroo in breakthrough understanding:

“My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding…”
(Colossians 2:2)

Wow, Jesus.

Complete understanding doesn’t come from hours of research alone.

It’s incomplete

until Your people are encouraged in heart
and united in love.

That doesn’t mean You don’t want us to study Your Word.

You do!

But it does mean that there’s no substitute

for the loving, encouraging assembling of ourselves together.

Pray this Lazaroo with explosive feeling:

“Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.”
(2 Kings 4:3-4)

She didn’t have enough oil to fill even one jar, Jesus.

But before You worked the miracle
You required her – in an act of faith –
to collect a houseful of empty jars.

All my empty jars are sitting here, Jesus!

Ready.

Pull on your work gloves, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling…”
(Philippians 2:12)

I can’t work UP my salvation, Jesus.

I’m saved by my faith in You, not by my works.

But I do have to work OUT my salvation once I’ve received it!

Not casually, but with fear and trembling –

‘cause the stakes are really, really, really high!
