Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“To Philemon our dear friend and fellow worker…”
(Philemon 1:1)

It’s great to have a friend, Jesus

and what would I do, if I didn’t have people to work alongside me?

But to have both in one person – a friend and fellow worker –

is golden.

Thank You for every one of them You’ve placed in my life!

Bless them richly.
Protect them.

Help me show them the love and gratitude I feel for them.

Enable me to be a great friend and fellow worker to others!

Pray this Lazaroo with Golden Rule Godliness:

“How painful are honest words!”
(Job 6:25)

That’s so true, Jesus.

Honest words can be incredibly painful –

Especially when I’m telling someone
something they don’t want to hear
but need to hear.

Help me be honest with everyone!

But also…

help me be kind.

There’s a way to tell a hard truth
using soft, encouraging, uplifting, hope-filled words

and to do so with a humble spirit
in mutual respect

telling others the truth
the way I want it told to me.

Pray this Lazaroo with true understanding:

“In your teaching show…seriousness…”
(Titus 2:7)

Yes, Jesus! Absolutely.

A good bit of teaching Your Word has to show seriousness.

This isn’t just life or death.
It’s eternal life or death!

The reality of heaven and hell is as serious as it gets.

But a teacher can use serious humor to make a point
as You did so many times in Your teaching.

A sourpuss who can’t crack a smile
and who has no sense of humor

will find it very hard
to hold their listeners’ attention.

Pray this Lazaroo with excuseless humility:

“…the royal secretaries…wrote out in the script of each province and in the language of each people all Haman’s orders to the king’s satraps, the governors of the various provinces and the nobles of the various peoples. These were written in the name of King Xerxes himself and sealed with his own ring.”
(Esther 3:12)

What an immense amount of harm this king allowed, Jesus

all because he trusted the wrong man.

Give me supernatural discernment, Holy Spirit!

My trust is in You alone.

Pray this Lazaroo in holy fear:

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.”
(1 Timothy 2:15)

Oh, what a solemn, sacred trust, Jesus!

Help me to come to Your Word with an open mind and heart!

May I never approach with my own agenda
seeking to proof-text what I already believe.

Instead, may I open my Bible in true humility
eager to be taught.

Pray this Lazaroo with mounting anticipation:

“Next to him, Shemaiah son of Shekaniah, the guard at the East Gate, made repairs.”
(Nehemiah 3:29)

Shemaiah already had one job, Jesus –

and it wasn’t a “nothing” job.

Guarding the East Gate is a huge responsibility!

So is guarding any of Your Jerusalem gates.

But the East Gate is the one
through which You’ll enter Jerusalem
when You return to earth for Your Church!

If Shemaiah can carry out two crucial jobs for You simultaneously

So can I.

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“But women will be saved through childbearing – if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.”
(1 Timothy 2:15)

That’s a pretty amazing promise, Jesus

one to which every pregnant woman can wholeheartedly cling.

But something tells me…

You’ll also save through the painful trials of this life
men and non-childbearing women

who “continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.”

Increase my faith, LORD!

Help me love others with Your love.

Keep me holy

and all in a way that honors You!

Pray this Lazaroo with utter abandon:

“Now since we are under obligation to the palace and it is not proper for us to see the king dishonored, we are sending this message to inform the king…”
(Ezra 4:14)

King Artaxerxes had to smell the stench from this heaping pile of garbage from a mile away, Jesus!

These two wicked, jealous yahoos were tattling
because Your chosen servant
was rattling their cages
by obeying You.

Great God!

Help me be a cage-rattler
instead of a garbage-pusher.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:16)

What a reminder, Jesus!

There’s more than one kind of hope.

There’s hope

bad hope

and good hope.

Some things I hope for are just “hope.”

They’re fine…but they don’t really make anything better.

Other things I hope for are “bad hope.”

If I get them, they’ll end up hurting me.

But You Are the Giver of Good Hope!

which is –

all good!

Pray this Lazaroo with renewed determination:

“So Huram finished the work he had undertaken for King Solomon in the temple of God…”
(2 Chronicles 4:11)

So many of us start, Jesus…

so few of us finish

and finish well.

Huram did more than start doing the work You gave him.

He finished it.

Help me not only start doing what You want me to do

when You want me to start it

but help me finish what You want me to do

when You want me to finish it.
