Pray this Lazaroo with all your might:

“But you, dear friends, build yourselves up in your most holy faith…”
(Jude 1:20)

Okay, Jesus.

Faith comes by hearing Your Word.

It also comes by seeing what You have done in the past

and what You’re doing in the present.

So I build myself up in my most holy faith

by paying attention to what you’ve done

and what You’re doing.

But bottom line?

Faith is a gift straight from You.
You’re the one who has to give it.

I look to You!

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“Then the Spirit came into me and raised me to my feet. He spoke to me and said: ‘Go, shut yourself inside your house. And you, son of man, they will tie with ropes; you will be bound so that you cannot go out among the people.’”
(Ezekiel 3:24-25)

So much for the popular notion, Jesus

that those who follow You will never face problems!

But so long as You keep raising me to my feet, Holy Spirit

I’ll keep facing and overcoming each one.

Sell out totally to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“I will call attention to what he is doing, spreading malicious nonsense about us.”
(3 John 1:10)

That may be the hardest defense to pull off, Jesus:

defending myself.

The moment I open my mouth, I’m suspect.

After all, the number of guilty people who protest their innocence is legendary.

I have to face the fact that I will never be able

to completely convince people of my innocence.

But You can.

You’re my only hope!
My reputation depends on You.

Pray this Lazaroo on high alert:

“Her king and her princes are exiled among the nations, the law is no more, and her prophets no longer find visions from the Lord.”
(Lamentations 2:9)

What a terrible state of affairs, Jesus –

and all because Your people sinned against You
bringing all this disaster down upon their own heads.

Especially because these prophets who no longer find visions from You

tend to keep right on prophesying the delusions of their own minds

leading Your people astray.

Pray this Lazaroo with unwavering dedication:

“Watch out that you do not lose what you have worked for…”
(2 John 1:8)

I tend to think that once I have it, Jesus

it’s mine.

But You’re reminding me that I may have to work as hard to keep it

as I did to attain it.

Maybe harder – because now, I’m a target.
Satan wants to steal what You’ve provided.

But so long as I keep my eyes fixed on You

following You every step of the way

You’ll ensure that Satan comes up

empty-handed.

Pray this Lazaroo with undying love:

“…you say, ‘I am innocent; he is not angry with me.’ But I will pass judgment on you because you say, ‘I have not sinned.’”
(Jeremiah 2:35)

It’s not a good idea to lie to the One who can read my mind, Jesus.

Yes. I have sinned.

I’ve wronged others
but most of all You.

But I believe You came to this earth to pay with Your life to save people like me.

You’ve removed my sin from me
as far as the east is from the west!

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“I do not write to you because you do not know the truth, but because you do know it…”
(1 John 2:21)

John was writing to those who believe in You, Jesus

not to those who had rejected You

which means He’s also writing to me.

I believe in the truth that You are God

that You came to this earth
to save us from our sins

by dying on the cross
then rising from the dead

to give all who believe in You eternal life!

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“Tell the righteous it will be well with them, for they will enjoy the fruit of their deeds. Woe to the wicked! Disaster is upon them! They will be paid back for what their hands have done.”
(Isaiah 3:10-11)

Kinda sounds like I’m going to harvest what I plant, Jesus.

That being so…

I want to plant all the good I can possibly get in the ground
and keep pulling up all the weeds of my sin

that my sinful human nature keeps trying to sow.

Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“…the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment.”
(2 Peter 2:9)

You’re not one-sided, Jesus.

You do good to those who put their trust in You.

But You also hold punishment in store
for those who defy You.

You are pure love.

But that means You hate evil
because evil is the enemy of love.

If love is to triumph – and it will –

evil must be smashed.

Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“Daughters of Jerusalem, come out, and look, you daughters of Zion. Look on King Solomon wearing a crown, the crown with which his mother crowned him on the day of his wedding, the day his heart rejoiced.”
(Song of Songs 3:10-11)

Is she referring to Solomon’s first wedding, Jesus?

Because in disobedience to You
he took many wives – 700 in all.

Many of them were idol worshipers, who in time turned his heart from You.

Remind me, Jesus!
More…isn’t always best.
