Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“…he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)…”
(2 Peter 2:7-8)

Am I tormented by the sin all around me, Jesus?

Or have I become numb to it, indifferent
shrugging it off as though it’s not that big of a deal?

Please. Help me always see sin

as You do.

Pray this Lazaroo in awed anticipation:

“Who is this coming up from the wilderness like a column of smoke, perfumed with myrrh and incense made from all the spices of the merchant? Look! It is Solomon’s carriage, escorted by sixty warriors, the noblest of Israel, all of them wearing the sword, all experienced in battle, each with his sword at his side, prepared for the terrors of the night.”
(Song of Songs 3:6-8)

What an amazing sight, Jesus!

But a far better one is coming

when I follow You on Your great white horse

into end-time battle!

Pray this Lazaroo with faith in the God of true wisdom:

“There is a time for everything…a time to mourn and a time to dance, a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing, a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away…”
(Ecclesiastes 3:1, 4-6)

Jesus, some people insist

that winners never mourn, scatter
stop embracing, throw away…

and of course, they never, ever give up!

But that’s not Godly wisdom, is it?

Sometimes, that’s exactly what I have to do.

Pray this Lazaroo with Holy Spirit-prompted discernment:

“If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”
(James 2:16-17)

But it has to be the right action, doesn’t it, Jesus?

Because of Your Spirit in me, I want to help everybody.

Yes, the way to help some people
is to give them what they want.

However, with others, that’s not help.
Giving them what they want…

would destroy them.

Qualify for these promises, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.”
(Proverbs 3:24-26)

You’re not making this promise to everyone, are You, Jesus?

This happy state of affairs is for those

who do not let wisdom and understanding out of their sight
and preserve sound judgment and discretion!

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“…to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed? So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief. Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it.”
(Hebrews 3:18-19; 4:1)

Belief in You, Jesus.

That’s the difference between heaven and hell.

That’s the difference between entering Your rest

and falling into a downward spiral
that leads to eternal agony!

Pray this Lazaroo in healthy, loving fear:

“God is a righteous judge, a God who displays his wrath every day. If he does not relent, he will sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow. He has prepared his deadly weapons; he makes ready his flaming arrows.”
(Psalm 7:11-13)

So much for the blasphemous idea that You’re nothing but benevolent, toothless mush, Jesus.

May I never mistake the amazing, loving grace
You extended to me on the cross

for weakness against unrepentant, willful sin!

Pray this Lazaroo in growing gratitude:

“The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.”
(Philemon 1:25)

When my spirit is low, Jesus

it affects everything I think, say and do.

It dramatically and negatively affects

all the people who come
into contact with me
including those I love and need the most.

But when I realize I’m the recipient of Your loving, unmerited grace

my spirits begin to lift!
I have hope!

which in turn raises the spirits
of everyone around me.

Pray this Lazaroo with renewed resolve:

“Anyone who withholds kindness from a friend forsakes the fear of the Almighty. But my brothers are as undependable as intermittent streams, as the streams that overflow when darkened by thawing ice and swollen with melting snow, but that stop flowing in the dry season, and in the heat vanish from their channels.”
(Job 6:14-17)

Job’s friends started out so well, Jesus

but before long, couldn’t resist the urge
to kick him while he was down.

May my healthy fear of you

keep me from being one of Job’s “comforters.”
