Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“I want you to know how hard I am contending for you and for those at Laodicea, and for all who have not met me personally.”
(Colossians 2:1)

Paul’s talking to me, Jesus

‘cause I’ve not met him personally. 😉

But I like this about him:

He wanted me to know how hard he was contending for me
even though he didn’t know me personally.

He’s setting a good example, isn’t he?

One with Your help
I fully intend to follow.

Pray this Lazaroo with straightened priorities:

“I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?”
(Galatians 3:2)

If there was ever a rhetorical question, Jesus

this is it.

Paul knew the answer!

He devoted his entire life to sharing the good news
that while no one is good enough to earn heaven
You paid our sin debt with Your life on the cross

for all who truly believe.

Pray this Lazaroo in patient trust:

“…out of our intense longing we made every effort to see you. For we wanted to come to you—certainly I, Paul, did, again and again…”
(1 Thessalonians 2:17-18)

Sometimes it’s not how badly I want it, is it, Jesus?

I mean…if the Apostle Paul intensely desired something and didn’t get it –

I’m talking about the man
through whom You raised the dead

the man through whom You gave us
more New Testament books than any other –

then, who am I to think I might not have to wait

for Your perfect time.

Pray this Lazaroo in utter trust:

“…we wanted to come to you…”
(1 Thessalonians 2:18)

I don’t always get what I want, Jesus.

It’s kind of comforting to note:

Neither did Paul!

Maybe I should rephrase that:

“I don’t always get what I think I want.”

You’ve let me have my way enough times to prove to me:

Sometimes what looks good from a distance

isn’t at all good up close.

I don’t need any more proof, Father.

Give me only what You know is best!

Pray this Lazaroo with explosive feeling:

“Surely you have heard about the administration of God’s grace that was given to me for you, that is, the mystery made known to me by revelation, as I have already written briefly. In reading this, then, you will be able to understand my insight into the mystery of Christ…”
(Ephesians 3:2-4)

You revealed this mystery to Paul, Jesus

so he could explain how, in dying for my sins

and rising from the dead

You’ve secured for me a home with You

forever in heaven!

Pray this Lazaroo in trusting submission:

“I do not permit a woman to teach or to assume authority over a man…”
(1 Timothy 2:12)

It’s doubtful that Paul would follow such a practice today, Jesus.

In that culture, female leadership over men
was a stumbling block to the advancement of Your kingdom.

So he asked women with those gifts and skills

to graciously exercise them with other women.

O God! May I be willing to make any sacrifice

for the sake of Your great Name!

Mean it all the way to the marrow of your bones, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…out of our intense longing we made every effort to see you.”
(1 Thessalonians 2:17)

Paul really wanted this, Jesus

and You didn’t give it to him!

Through Paul You gave us much of the New Testament!

Through Him You healed the sick and raised the dead!

But when he passionately desired something outside of Your will

You said no.

Just because he thought it was best didn’t mean it was.

So, please, LORD:

Do the same for me.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
(Galatians 2:21)

Paul’s passionate for a reason, Jesus:

You’re the one speaking this truth through him!

I should do my best to live an absolutely holy life.

But no matter how hard I try, I’ll always fall short.

It’s Your grace – the loving price You paid for me on the cross

then rising from the dead –

that is my one, sure hope.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble transparency:

“…we were orphaned by being separated from you for a short time (in person, not in thought)…”
(1 Thessalonians 2:17)

Paul is opening up, isn’t he, Jesus?

He had some spiritual moms and dads in that city!

Men and women who cared for Paul’s needs
like he was one of their own.

O God!

Help me be that to the young Christians coming up around me!

And if it pleases You…

grant me a few precious people who will be that to me.

Pray this Lazaroo in fascination:

“Epaphras, my fellow prisoner…”
(Philemon 1:23)

So, Jesus…

Does Epaphras gets mentioned in the Bible
solely because he was in jail with Paul?

No.

There was something special about this man.

He and Paul had made a connection.
Knowing Paul, he had probably led Epaphras to You.

In a sense, Paul led me to You, too –

because through Your words in him
he taught those who first told me about You.

There are worse things

than being imprisoned with the Apostle Paul!
