Pray this Lazaroo in zealous love:

“Someone might argue, ‘If my falsehood enhances God’s truthfulness and so increases his glory, why am I still condemned as a sinner?’ Why not say—as some slanderously claim that we say—’Let us do evil that good may result’? Their condemnation is just!”
(Romans 3:7-8)

Through Paul, You brilliantly dismantle this attack on Your gift of grace, Jesus!

Anyone who knows You
knows You would never condone willful sin!

Help me take my stand for truth

and against all who would pervert it!

Pray this Lazaroo with renewed resolve:

“Warn them before God against quarreling about words…”
(2 Timothy 2:14)

Why do we do that, Jesus?

Why do we fight and argue and quarrel at all?

Afterwards, it doesn’t make any of us feel good.

It has the potential to damage relationships.

Besides, when I quarrel with another person about some key word in the Bible

all I do is give the enemy of my soul

something else to dissuade the lost

from putting their trust in You.

Pray this Lazaroo in holy fear:

“…without…disputing.”
(1 Timothy 2:8)

You’re not commanding Your Church to be only “yes people,” Jesus.

We’re allowed to disagree, to share alternative views
so long as they’re based on Your Word
and not mere opinion.

But what You forbid is disputing – argumentative disagreement –

the kind that is disrespectful, disruptive, disorderly.

Disputing destroys the unity of Your Church
which is so crucial to Your mission!

Show me how to respectfully offer a different view

while trusting You for the outcome.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast hope:

“…the God of Abraham…”
(Exodus 3:16)

Abraham had flaws, Jesus.

He argued with You.

He was so afraid You wouldn’t protect him

that He told everyone his beautiful wife was his sister
and allowed her to be taken by another man to be his wife.

Twice.

But You chose him anyway

to be the founding father of Your great nation of Israel.

Like Abraham, I too am flawed, Father!

But You’ve chosen me anyway.
Use me for Your glory!
