Pray this Lazaroo with holy passion:

“Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure…Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.”
(Philippians 2:14-16)

It’s not the stuff I build that lays up heavenly treasure, is it, Jesus?

It’s the people You work through me to build

who are living Your overcoming life!

Pray this Lazaroo with passionate intent:

“Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, ‘children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.’ Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky as you hold firmly to the word of life.”
(Philippians 2:14-16)

If I want to shine like a star in this darkened world, Jesus

I’ve got to stop my grumbling and arguing.

The only chance I have to do that

is to hold firmly to Your Word of life!

Pray this Lazaroo with undiluted sincerity:

“Do everything without grumbling or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, ‘children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.’”
(Philippians 2:14-15)

There’s a payoff for doing life Your way, Jesus!

There’s always a payoff.
A very good payoff.

It seldom happens when or how or where I imagined it would

but when it does, I’m blown away.

Still the greatest payoff of all for doing things Your way

is the certain knowledge that I’m putting a smile on Your face.

Pray this Lazaroo in total submission:

“Do everything without grumbling or arguing…”
(Philippians 2:14)

Seriously, Jesus?

“Everything?”

Okay. I know You’re serious about this

but it’s quite clear:

I haven’t been taking this command seriously enough.

When I don’t like what’s going on I tend to grumble.

When I don’t like what somebody’s saying, I tend to argue.

But You want me to cut that out.

All of it.

Okay. I’ll try.

But You know me!
I’m going to need a ton of help from You to pull this off.

Pray this Lazaroo in holy fear:

“…without…disputing.”
(1 Timothy 2:8)

You’re not commanding Your Church to be only “yes people,” Jesus.

We’re allowed to disagree, to share alternative views
so long as they’re based on Your Word
and not mere opinion.

But what You forbid is disputing – argumentative disagreement –

the kind that is disrespectful, disruptive, disorderly.

Disputing destroys the unity of Your Church
which is so crucial to Your mission!

Show me how to respectfully offer a different view

while trusting You for the outcome.

Brace yourself, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…each man grabbed his opponent by the head and thrust his dagger into his opponent’s side, and they fell down together.”
(2 Samuel 2:16)

The worst part about this tragedy, Jesus

is that everyone who died in this senseless carnage

belonged to You –
descendants of Your servant Abraham.

What percentage of the time do I spend fighting the real enemy of my soul

and how much time do I waste

criticizing and arguing with

my Christian brothers and sisters?
