Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Then Solomon began to build…”
(2 Chronicles 3:1)

I’ve begun a few things myself, Jesus

though I haven’t always finished.

It’s painful to start something, full of hope and promise

only to run into an obstacle
I’m not willing to pay the price to overcome.

That kind of shame and embarrassment

tempts me to not start anything
so I’ll never fail.

But that’s not true, is it?

The one failure bigger than failing to finish
is failing to try.

Get prepared, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…we dealt with each of you as a father deals with his own children…urging…”
(1 Thessalonians 2:11-12)

That’s my job too, isn’t it, Jesus?

Supplying information isn’t always enough.

When I’m responsible for what someone does

there are times when I need to light a fire under them
which of course, they don’t always appreciate.

Most people like to decide for themselves what’s important.

But when they don’t choose wisely

it’s up to me to supply
what they lack.

Pray this Lazaroo with undiluted sincerity:

“…in connection with…”
(1 Chronicles 6:49)

Those are three life-changing words, Jesus.

I’m significantly affected by whomever I’m connected with
and they absolutely affect me.

Same goes for the things I’m connected with:

the phone, computer, electronic devices I use
where I work, live, vacation
the schools I’ve attended
the places I frequent
the vehicle I drive

But the greatest question is:

How am I using what I’m connected with
to connect myself and others

to You?

Pray this Lazaroo with explosive feeling:

“Once you were…enemies in your minds…”
(Colossians 1:21)

It’s true, Jesus.

There was a time when I was Your enemy.
I wanted my own way, not Yours.

So You allowed me to discover the hard way –

though not as hard as it could have been! –

that my way had a few holes in it.
Okay. More like Swiss cheese.

The thing that stuns and melts me

is the way You welcome me with open arms
the moment I repent.

Be overwhelmed with gratitude, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Now Mesha king of Moab raised sheep…”
(2 Kings 3:4)

So do You, Jesus

and I’m one of them.

I cannot thank You enough for making me one of Your flock!

You lead me, guide me, care for me.

Like a sheep, however

there have been times when I’ve strayed.

You could have written me off…

but You didn’t.

You’re my Shepherd!

You left the obedient ninety-nine
went after me and brought me back –

your dirty, cold, hungry
lost sheep.

Allow yourself to marvel, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…striving together as one for the faith of the gospel.”
(Philippians 1:27)

There’s nothing like it, Jesus –

a group of markedly different people

different ages, different sexes
different backgrounds, different personalities
different preferences, different schedules
different living circumstances

some single, some married, some divorced
some new believers, some long-time saints
some with means, some in dire financial straits
some battling illness, some healthy as a horse

all coming together in beautiful harmony with only one thing in common:

You.

Pray this Lazaroo in wonder-filled anticipation:

“…she sat down at his right hand.”
(1 Kings 2:19)

And so Solomon showed his love for his mother, Jesus.

The right hand.
Next to the king, the place of highest honor.

Knowing this, the mother of two of your disciples asked for that privilege

and earned a swift rebuke.

But by Your grace, one day in heaven I’ll see You seated at the right hand of Your Father on his throne.

And if overcome
I’ll join you there.

Pray this Lazaroo with full-on ardor:

“For it is by grace you have been saved…”
(Ephesians 2:8)

I believe that with all my heart, Jesus!

The easy part to believe in is Your grace.

Over and over again
You treat me better than I deserve.

G.R.A.C.E. –
God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense.

The hard part for me to get my head around is that I’m really and truly saved!

I know what I am.
I know what my sins deserve.

I’m rescued only…only…only…

by Your grace.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“Joab…and David’s men went out and met them at the pool of Gibeon.”
(2 Samuel 2:13)

This was a showdown, Jesus.

Mana a mano.
Shootout at the OK Corral.

Hundreds of brave, valiant soldiers were about to die.

Was there a better way to settle this?

Absolutely.

All they had to do was obey You.

But half of them wouldn’t
so the other half had no choice.

Give me the courage to fight

but always on Your side.

Pray this Lazaroo in unending gratitude:

“…when they recognized the grace given to me.”
(Galatians 2:9)

Recognition shouldn’t mean as much to me as it does, Jesus.

But if I have to be recognized for something
may it be for the grace You’ve so graciously given me.

That way, people won’t mistakenly conclude that I’m the one who’s special.

They’ll realize that whatever good qualities I possess
whatever I do that makes a genuine difference
whatever I say that’s truly helpful

come from You.
