Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“I rejoice in what was suffered for you…”
(Colossians 1:24)

After their babies are born,

mothers feel that, Jesus.

When they’re overwhelmed with love for their newborn

they affirm that the agony of giving birth
was all worthwhile.

Many of them do it again….and again…and again.

By faith, may I say the same about the suffering You’ve allowed in my life, Father!

When I see what You’ve done with it, may I rejoice!

because the agony was all worthwhile.

Pray this Lazaroo with fervent spirit:

“Before them the earth shakes…”
(Joel 2:10)

Pretty scary, Jesus.

When the sound of my approaching enemies shakes the earth

it makes me want to run –

until I remember:

You Are my Stronghold!

My enemies can shake the earth a little

but You can shake it a lot.

When by faith I stubbornly refuse to tremble before my attackers

You see and approve.

You know I’m overruling my natural instincts
because I believe You Are Greater!

and I’ll prevail.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Now I rejoice…”
(Colossians 1:24)

Being able to rejoice in something good is wonderful, Jesus!

But that word, “Now” gives me pause.

Maybe Paul didn’t mean it how it sounds…

but I might infer that only because He liked what he was seeing
could he now begin to rejoice.

But by faith –

You want me to rejoice in You and what You’re doing
every day of my life – at all times!

whether I like what’s happening
or not.

Pray this Lazaroo buttressed by faith:

“This company of Israelite exiles who are in Canaan…”
(Obadiah 1:20)

That’s wild, Jesus.

They were exiles in the very land You had promised them.

Everybody looked at them like outsiders, intruders

not knowing they were looking down on people
to whom they would one day look up

not realizing these trespassers
would one day become the land’s owners.

I can identify.

Today I walk this land as a foreigner

but my Dad owns it all
and I’m Your heir.

Pray this Lazaroo with undying certainty:

“…through the…enduring word of God.”
(1 Peter 1:23)

A lot of things come and go, Jesus

but Your Word stays.

With every passing year

the words of most become increasingly irrelevant.

But with every passing millennium

Your Word is proven perfect
over and over again.

Since by faith in You I’m going to live forever

I may as well live by the only Word
that does the same.

The grass withers and the flowers fall

but Your Word endures forever.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“…we are…created in Christ Jesus to do good works…”
(Ephesians 2:10)

But before I can do good, Jesus

I have to be good.

Bad people do bad things. Good people do good things.

I do what I am.

True, sometimes bad people do good things

usually from an ulterior motive.

Good people often do bad things

because we’re weak…still growing…battling temptation.

But by faith –

through my deepening, daily, 1on1 relationship with You –

those good works are on the way.

Pray this Lazaroo in unshakable faith:

“…my spirit rejoices in God my Savior…”
(Luke 1:47)

So does mine, Jesus!

2,000 years ago Your followers thought all was lost
because they saw You crucified, dead, buried.

This in spite of the fact that You told them in advance this would happen
and that on the third day You would be raised from the dead.

Then they saw You, ate with You, touched You

and believed!

I’ve done none of those things…yet.

But by faith

I will.

Pray this Lazaroo with bulldog faith:

“But I, with a song of thanksgiving, will sacrifice to you.”
(Jonah 2:9)

Thank You for putting a song of thanksgiving in my heart, Jesus!

Of course, there are days
when I have trouble remembering where You put it

let alone being able to sing it.

But it’s in there. By faith, I declare it:

It’s in there!

You sacrificed Your life for me.

It is my joy to sacrifice whatever You have entrusted to my care

for You.

Pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“What then do I gain by being wise?”
(Ecclesiastes 2:15)

 Solomon was awfully wise, Jesus.

Your gift to him.

But that question wasn’t one of his wisest.

He was limiting his research to what he could observe
under the sun.

Admittedly, that’s all he could see

but it wasn’t all there is.

The greatest gain of all is doing what You tell me to do

whether it pays off on this earth or not.

Because in heaven

it will.
