Pray this Lazaroo with sacrificial love:

“The watchmen found me as they made their rounds in the city. They beat me, they bruised me; they took away my cloak, those watchmen of the walls! Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you—if you find my beloved, what will you tell him? Tell him I am faint with love.”
(Song of Songs 5:7-8)

Would I do that for You, Jesus –

endure beating, bruising, abuse because of my love for You?

I’d better!

because that’s what You did because of Your love for me.

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intensity:

“Since the day I brought my people out of Egypt, I have not chosen a city in any tribe of Israel to have a temple built so that my Name might be there, nor have I chosen anyone to be ruler over my people Israel. But now I have chosen Jerusalem for my Name to be there, and I have chosen David to rule my people Israel.”
(2 Chronicles 6:5-6)

Saul wasn’t Your choice, Jesus.

He was the king the people wanted.

Thank You for wanting –

and choosing me!

Pray this Lazaroo in Holy Spirit-guided introspection:

“Woe to the city of blood, full of lies, full of plunder, never without victims! The crack of whips, the clatter of wheels, galloping horses and jolting chariots! Charging cavalry, flashing swords and glittering spears!”
(Nahum 3:1-3)

The city of Ninevah had it all, Jesus…

everything they needed to wreak havoc
on the weaker peoples around them.

How am I equipping myself, Father?

Is it all about being a blessing to others
or only about making things better

for myself?

Pray this Lazaroo in the fear of God:

“‘Defile the temple and fill the courts with the slain. Go!’ So they went out and began killing throughout the city. While they were killing and I was left alone, I fell facedown, crying out, ‘Alas, Sovereign Lord! Are you going to destroy the entire remnant of Israel in this outpouring of your wrath on Jerusalem?’”
(Ezekiel 9:7-8)

No, Jesus.

You didn’t destroy them all.

But You do know whom to destroy and whom to spare.

I don’t deserve it –

but thank You for sparing me

right down to this very moment.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“Why do you now cry aloud—have you no king? Has your ruler perished, that pain seizes you like that of a woman in labor? Writhe in agony, Daughter Zion…you must leave the city to camp in the open field. You will go to Babylon; there you will be rescued. There the Lord will redeem you out of the hand of your enemies.”
(Micah 4:9-10)

When my sins have cost me my home, Jesus

is all lost?

No.

Even in a strange and foreign land

You can rescue me!

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“As I listened, he said to the others, ‘Follow him through the city and kill, without showing pity or compassion. Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, the mothers and children, but do not touch anyone who has the mark. Begin at my sanctuary.’”
(Ezekiel 9:5-6)

Such violent, merciless punishment violates our modern sensibilities, Jesus.

But we fail to recognize the depth of idolatry’s evil
and the rapidity with which it infects those it touches.

At some point I have to decide:

Do I trust my LORD and Savior to do only what’s right?

Pray this Lazaroo with compassion:

“Woe to the city of blood, full of lies, full of plunder, never without victims!”
(Nahum 3:1)

That’s what got to You the most, wasn’t it, Jesus?

The victims.

Those who lost their lives due to the monstrous cruelty embedded in Nineveh’s culture.

Those who lost loved ones, grieving without relief.
Broken promises, broken homes, broken lives.

It was all about the victims then

it’s all about the victims now.

You’re the same – yesterday, today and forever.

Our suffering
continues to break Your heart!

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“Now the glory of the God of Israel went up from above the cherubim, where it had been, and moved to the threshold of the temple. Then the Lord called…‘Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.’”
(Ezekiel 9:3-4)

Place that mark on my forehead, Jesus!

I’m brokenhearted about what is happening in my country
and around the world.

Because I’m faithful to Your Word

may many others receive that mark.

Pray this Lazaroo with informed caution:

“Woe to the city of blood, full of lies, full of plunder…”
(Nahum 3:1)

People would expect a city full of plunder

to be in pretty good shape, Jesus!

But it’s the blood they’ve shed to get it
the lies they’ve told to keep it

that earn Your pronouncement of woe.

When You say, “Woe!”

I’d better say, “Woah!”

and quickly repent
stop harming others
stop telling lies

or I’ll discover firsthand
just how terrible Your woes can be.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name.”
(Revelation 3:12)

I thought I already had all the incentive I need, Jesus.

But this makes me want to strive like never before

to win each spiritual battle in my life!
