“The priests, who were heads of families, numbered 1,760. They were able men, responsible for ministering in the house of God.”
(1 Chronicles 9:13)

Make me like these, Jesus –

able…and responsible –
ministering in Your house.

Only You – the Giver of every good gift –

can make me competent to do Your Work!

Help me be truly responsible –

fulfilling my duties day after day, without fail.

And no matter where You place me in Your Church –

from the front to the back pew –

use me to minister to Your precious people!

“Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant—not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.”
(2 Corinthians 3:5-6)

I do long to obey You right down to the letter of the law, Jesus!

But I can’t.

Thank You, thank You, Thank You

for Your new, loving, mercy-drenched covenant

of grace.

Pray this Lazaroo in sobered assessment:

“…look upon my suffering.”
(Lamentations 1:18)

Sometimes I agree with Jeremiah, Jesus –

I want people to know what I’m going through

so they can pray
so I can get a little sympathy
so they’ll cut me some slack in my work.

At other times, not so much.

I prefer to appear strong, competent
unfazed by the challenges in my life.

Of course, You know how weak and needy I really am

as, I suspect…do most of them.
