Pray this Lazaroo with white-hot fervor:

“When Mordecai learned of all that had been done, he tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and ashes, and went out into the city, wailing loudly and bitterly.”
(Esther 4:1)

Mordecai felt exactly the way most of us would feel, Jesus

when confronted with horrific, disastrously unacceptable news.

He was right.

The threatened annihilation of all the Jews was catastrophic.

But He was also wrong.

Because You were about to turn this unthinkable situation
into stunning victory.

Help me remember that

next time I’m tempted to lose it over bad news.

Pray this Lazaroo in faith-filled confidence:

“I will overthrow chariots…”
(Haggai 2:22)

This was no small thing, Jesus.

Armies on foot would melt in fear
when confronted by an army with chariots.

It took an enormous amount of faith in You

for a soldier on foot to stand his ground
when a horse-drawn chariot was bearing down on him.

What are the chariots I’m facing this year, LORD?

Please increase my faith to reflect Who You Really Are

so that come what may
I’ll stand my ground!

Pray this Lazaroo in heartbroken realization:

“…even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.”
(1 John 2:18)

It’s true, Jesus.

The number of people who reject You is growing exponentially.

There was a time when people who committed evil acts were ashamed.

They hid what they did and when confronted
either denied it or repented.

No more.

Increasingly, they flaunt Your Word and openly celebrate their sin.

Only You know whether this is the last hour

or the last minute.

Pray this Lazaroo in holy recognition:

“…the Jews…killed…the prophets…”
(1 Thessalonians 2:14-15)

Yes, they did, Jesus.

When You sent Your prophets to correct Your people’s sins
they were seldom received with open arms –

all too often, with hatred, threats, beatings, imprisonment

…and stones.

But Jews are not the only people who shoot the messenger.

It’s hard to be confronted with my wrongdoing.
I want to lash out at the person who’s in my face

until I drop my pretense and acknowledge:

You’re the One who sent them.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“When Peter came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face…”
(Galatians 2:11)

Am I seeing this right, Jesus?

The Apostle Paul in a face-to-face confrontation with the Apostle Peter?

That’s not supposed to happen, is it? – for several reasons:

Along with James and John, Peter was one of Jesus’ inner circle.
He was a follower of Jesus long before Paul.
Christians are supposed to be loving and get along!

But this was love, wasn’t it?

Love of the truth.
