Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever…He gives wisdom to the wise.”
(Daniel 2:20-21)

We so easily forget, don’t we, Jesus?

All wisdom comes from You.

True…everything else comes from You, too – which we also forget.

But without wisdom, who can succeed?
Who can truly – and lastingly – enjoy life?

When I act with wisdom, please help me acknowledge its Source

and in light of how many times I’ve missed the boat

give me more.

Pray this Lazaroo with passion:

“They are…autumn trees…uprooted…”
(Jude 1:13)

It’s hard to see a big tree lying on its side, Jesus.

It takes so many years to grow.
With every year it produces more fruit, more shade.

Still…when a tree is chopped down, there’s hope.

Sometimes a shoot will poke its head up through the stump
and be given another chance.

Not so the tree that’s uprooted.

No root?
No chance.

Chop me down if you must, LORD

but never, never, ever
uproot me.

Pray this Lazaroo with undying love:

“You are not being sent to a people of obscure speech and difficult language, but to the house of Israel…”
(Ezekiel 3:5)

The house of Israel, Jesus…

Your chosen people.

No nation has ever been favored by You like the children of Abraham

no nation so favored
has ever been so fiercely punished.

Of those to whom much is given

much more will be demanded.

You’ve been unimaginably good to me, Jesus!

But the greater Your blessings

the more You expect.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“I pray that…all may go well with you…”
(3 John 1:2)

That’s a bodacious, outrageous, too-good-to-be-true-except-that-it’s-You prayer, Jesus!

Seriously?

That all may go well with somebody? Anybody!

Who deserves that?

Billy Graham?
Mother Teresa?
My sainted grandmother?

Huh-uh.

Certainly not Yours truly.

But I have the privilege of praying that prayer over every single person I care about –

not because of their goodness
but because of Yours

along with Your power and desire

to do infinitely more than I ask.

Pray this Lazaroo in deepest gratitude:

“Grace, mercy and peace…”
(2 John 1:3)

These three gifts from the throne room of heaven, Jesus…

priceless.

But too often I forget to claim them as mine.

If only I could remember them when I most need them!

Well…maybe I can:

Your grace – spelled, G.R.A.C.E. –

God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense.

Your mercy – spelled, M.E.R.C.Y.

My Errors Removed Completely! Yes!

Your peace – spelled, P.E.A.C.E.

Panic Ends As Christ Enters.

Pray this Lazaroo with mounting excitement:

“Be appalled at this, O heavens…”
(Jeremiah 2:12)

This is fascinating, Jesus.

You’re telling those who dwell with You in heaven
to react against the sin of Your people just as You do.

That pretty much puts to rest the idea that in heaven

I’ll have only positive emotions.

You promised that when You appear at the end of this age

I’ll be like You –
including every emotion You feel.

In other words – though perfected –

I’ll still be me.

Open your heart to the love of God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness.”
(1 John 2:9)

Apparently…

hating my brother is not something You approve, Jesus

seeing as how You not only died for me

but also my brother.

Last time I checked

fathers don’t take too kindly
to those who hate their children.

What do I do with these negative emotions?

Please!

Teach me to love them
with the love You have for me.
