Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“And then the lawless one will be revealed…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:8)

This is not a day to look forward to, Jesus.

The revelation of the antichrist.
The beginning of the worst period of time in earth’s history.

Things have to get a whole lot worse
before they stay better.

So why am I not terrified?

Because You’ve told me about it in advance.
Because You’ve promised never to leave me nor forsake me.

Because in the end
I win.

Pray this Lazaroo with Godly understanding:

“Solomon took a census of all the aliens who were in Israel, after the census his father David had taken…”
(2 Chronicles 2:17)

What are the things I’m doing that my dad did, Jesus?

Are they all good?
Are some of them bad?

Were some of them good for him
but not for me?

Please grant me the wisdom to discern which I need to stay with

and which I need to drop

along with the courage to act.

Pray this Lazaroo in deepest wonder and appreciation:

“…among you who believed.”
(1 Thessalonians 2:10)

There’s nothing like it, Jesus –

to be among those who have put their faith in You!

They’re not perfect.

Neither am I.

But they’re unlike anyone else in the world

each of us different, one-of-a-kind
but all with one, overriding reality in common:

You.

We see life, experience life, do life in an unending multiplicity of ways

while being joined together in miraculous unity
by the One who lives in us
forever.

Pray this Lazaroo in joyful gratitude:

“Heman, the musician…”
(1 Chronicles 6:33)

Thank You for musicians, Jesus!

Your invention: the gift of music.
Wow.

How much smaller, less interesting, less vibrant, less enjoyable life would be without it!

You’ve given most of us the ability to appreciate music
a precious few of us the ability to make it

even fewer who grasp the ultimate Source of their priceless gift

and devote the rest of their lives to making life-changing music
that glorifies You.

Allow yourself to be overwhelmed with gratitude, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…and through him to reconcile to himself all things…”
(Colossians 1:20)

So, Jesus…

I’m one of those things.

You’re the one who reconciles me to God.

My countless sins distanced me from my heavenly Father.
Your once-and-for all sacrifice on the cross brought us back together.

Well…made it possible.

But I still had to respond, didn’t I?
with faith I didn’t have.

So You gave me that, too.

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Keep your perspective as you pray this Lazaroo:

“He did evil in the eyes of the LORD, but not as his father and mother had done.”
(2 Kings 3:2)

Sounds like Joram deserves credit, Jesus

until I realize mom and dad
were Ahab and Jezebel.

He could’ve done a lot better than those two

and still deserved to be shot, hanged, beheaded, drawn and quartered.

Like me.

He had no excuse for his sins – even if they paled in comparison to those of others.

Nor do I.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ.”
(Philippians 1:27)

Sounds good, Jesus.

Easier said than done.

The problem is that when I contemplate the “whatever”

I seldom anticipate the “whatever” Satan has planned.

When it hits

I’m suddenly confronted with how painful the “whatever” can be.

I’m tempted to lash out, give in to despair…until I remember:

You’ve got my back.

Only then can I take the high road that honors You.

Be deeply humbled, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…give me Abishag the Shunammite as my wife.”
(1 Kings 2:17)

Adonijah didn’t want this beautiful woman so he could be a great husband to her, Jesus.

He wanted her for what he thought she could do for him.

How many brides and grooms begin their marriages that way?

“He makes me laugh.”
“She believes in me.”

How refreshing it would be to hear:

“I’m dedicating my life
to help her become everything Jesus created her to be.”

Pray this Lazaroo with unfathomable joy:

“…God raised us up with Christ…”
(Ephesians 2:6)

That past tense language gets my attention, Jesus.

I know that because I’ve put my faith in You alone
one day I’ll be raised up to heaven.

But that’s future.

At least…
I’ve thought it is.

But You’re talking about it like it’s already done.

Of course, since You know the future
to You it’s a done deal.

But it’s more than that, isn’t it?

Even now
I’m alive in You.
