Let God blow your mind, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…those who pass by…”
(Micah 2:8)

As improbable as it sounds to a mere human, Jesus

no one simply passes by me.

You orchestrate every one.

I can’t fathom that

because to them and me

we’re walking, driving, riding, flying
wherever we please.

Nope.

It’s wherever You please.

I can disbelieve it, reason against it, attempt to refute it.

Or I can worship Your incomprehensible greatness
in stunned awareness that this is Your world
which You run however You please.

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful faith:

“Go to the great city of Ninevah…”
(Jonah 3:2)

Those words sound familiar, Jesus.

Oh. Right:

You already said them to Jonah
after which, he ran the other way.

You had to stop him in his tracks
teach him a powerful lesson
turn him around.

How many times have You had to give me the same instructions, Father?

Thank You so much for Your incomprehensible patience!

‘cause I’m not on my second chance, Holy Spirit.

but somewhere in my second billionth.

Bow in gratitude to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“For the Israelites will live many days…without ephod…”
(Hosea 3:4)

What a loss, Jesus!

Your people were accustomed to being able to go to the priest
who would consult the Urim and Thummim in the ephod
and You would show them the way they were to take.

I’ve lived all my life without the ephod, Father –

but not without Your direction!

for You’ve given Your people something far more intimate than the ephod.

O Holy Spirit!
I have You.

Beg God to help you walk your talk as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…the harsh words ungodly sinners have spoken…”
(Jude 1:15)

Ungodly sinners are known for harsh words, Jesus.

But how much worse are harsh words
spoken by me?

I’m supposed to be Your child –

redeemed by Your blood on the cross –
chosen, changed, sanctified.

I’m supposed to set a holy example

safe for everyone to follow.

How is the person I’ve spoken harshly against

supposed to be able to tell the difference
between me and an ungodly sinner?

They can’t.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“Go now…”
(Ezekiel 3:11)

Waiting is one of the hardest things I do, Jesus.

The moment You show me something You want to do through me
I’m eager to launch!

But the “when” is as important as the “what,” isn’t it?

Your timing is crucial.

If I go too soon – before You tell me to –

I’ll fail, because I’ll be doing it in my strength, not Yours.

So I wait…and wait…and wait…

until You say, “1/23GO!”

Pray this Lazaroo in tearful confidence:

“People have heard my groaning, but there is no one to comfort me.”
(Lamentations 1:21)

That’s the hardest, Jesus.

When I keep my suffering to myself
it’s not a surprise that no one comforts me.

But when my pain increases to the point that I’m forced to cry out
and still no one shows up with love and compassion

my agony is multiplied by the stunning realization
that I’m abandoned
forsaken
alone.

Except I’m not!
Hallelujah!!

I have You.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble, grateful trust:

“I am not writing you a new command…”
(2 John 1:5)

That’s a good thing, Jesus –

because I’m not yet following the old ones.

Well…

I am most of them
but not all.

Sometimes that depresses me.

I know that by now, I should be farther along.

After all, the standard isn’t anything less than full and complete obedience.

But to know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you love me anyway
means more than words can say.

Pray this Lazaroo to the God who provides everything you need:

“…why go to Assyria to drink water from the River?”
(Jeremiah 2:18)

Great question, Jesus.

By turning to other gods, Your people broke Your heart.
How dare they turn to lifeless idols?

My guess is You’re asking the same question of me every time I sin

buying one of Satan’s lies.
How dare I drink from his foul, poisonous cesspool?

You are my Living Water.

So long as I drink deeply, daily from Your Spring
I will never thirst.

Wise up! as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Many will follow their shameful ways…”
(2 Peter 2:2)

When “everybody’s doing it,” Jesus

it’s tempting to do it with them.
It feels safer.

But not when the crowd is opposed to You!

‘cause that whole crowd is marching right over the cliff.

Is it tough to stand alone?

Sometimes, yes.

But I’m not alone, am I?

I have You –

not to mention untold millions of my brother and sister Christians.

Because Satan’s a liar.
Everybody’s not “doing it.”

Pray this Lazaroo in humbled awareness:

“Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith…?”
(James 2:5)

Wow. Why would that be, Jesus?

Atheists might suggest that the poor are undereducated.

But any education that points away from You

originates in the fiery pits of hell.

Perhaps their lack of money is a clue, however.

Those not blinded by the false hope of riches
are among the first to recognize:

You are our only Hope.
