Pray this Lazaroo with informed perspective:

“…he began to draw back…”
(Galatians 2:12)

There’s a time to draw back, Jesus –

when I’ve made a mistake.

But sometimes it’s a mistake to draw back.

The great Apostle Peter was making that mistake.

How many times have I drawn back when I shouldn’t have

or failed to draw back when I should?

That’s done. In the past.

You want me to learn from it
not obsess over it.

From now on

may I listen solely to You.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“I have told the men not to touch you.”
(Ruth 2:9)

Thank You for Your protection, Jesus!

Ruth was a young widow, all alone
putting herself at great risk while she worked in the fields.

But You provided Boaz, a man of standing, integrity and strength

to step in and insure her safety.

Then You piled Your blessings even higher on these two faithful people –

as You always do

for those who seek You with all their hearts.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“When they left…”
(Joshua 2:22)

Joshua’s spies left when they had to, Jesus.

Otherwise, they would have failed in Your purpose.

There’s a time for me to leave, too.

Jobs…relationships…homes…churches…cities…countries –

any of those and plenty else –

are up for grabs.

But sometimes You call me to stay in them for now…

or for the duration.

So the reason for me to leave anything, anyone, anywhere

is not because it’s hard, boring, dangerous, painful

but only because You say so.

Pray this Lazaroo on the edge of your seat:

“‘In the last days,’ God says…‘the sun will be turned to darkness…”
(Acts 2:17,19)

That’s one of the things I’m watching for, Jesus…

because I long for Your return!

You told me, “Watch!”

So I’m watching.

Of course, You’ve given me other signs to watch for, too –

powerful earthquakes, devastating famines
rising hatred for Christians with accompanying persecution
runaway diseases, Israel back in their own land.

Wow.

That dark sun may be closer than any of us thinks.

Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable obedience:

“…you shall not enter it…”
(Deuteronomy 1:37)

What a devastating thing to hear, Jesus!

Moses took his life in his hands to return to Egypt
in order to lead Your people to the Promised Land.

When the people sinned at its border
he had to endure 40 years of trials in the desert.

Then it was time to go in.
Without Moses.

Because he broke faith with You.

What’s my promised land on this earth, Father?

Help me be faithful!

Pray this Lazaroo with renewed determination:

“…he brought him to Jesus.”
(John 1:42)

May that be said of me, Jesus –

over and over and over and over and over and over
and over and over and over and over and over again!

Satan wants to shut my mouth.

I’m ashamed to admit he’s won that battle countless times.

But I don’t want him to have the last laugh!

Give me the wisdom, courage and compassion
to bring to You two precious souls

for each one I’ve missed.

Pray this Lazaroo brimming with expectation:

“…toward the sunrise…”
(Numbers 3:38)

That’s where You told Moses and Aaron and his sons to camp, Jesus –

toward the sunrise.

It’s a great place to camp for me, too.

I love the beauty of sunsets
the golden glow they cast over the landscape.

But there’s sadness, there, too
because I know it will soon be dark.

With the sunrise, however, I have more time to do something!

…with what You’ve placed in my heart.

Encamp me toward the sunrise!

Pray this Lazaroo with steely-eyed determination:

“From now on…”
(Luke 1:48)

There’s not one blessed thing I can do about the past, Jesus.

No matter how desperately I wish I could change some things

I can’t.

I dare not buy Satan’s lies

telling me it’s too late to turn it around
or tempting me to coast on my past wins.

That was then.
This is now.

It’s not about what I did, said, thought.

It’s all about what I’m doing, saying, thinking

from now on.

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“…the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering…”
(Leviticus 4:25)

3,500 years ago

Your priests were working with animal blood, Jesus.

No more.

You’ve promoted every person who places their trust in You:

Now we’re all a kingdom of priests!

The blood You now honor, Father

is not that of goats, sheep, bulls and rams.

The blood that takes away the sins of all who believe –

including mine –

is that of Your own dear Son.

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“As a result…”
(Mark 1:45)

That’s what every one of my actions has, doesn’t it, Jesus?

A result.

It’s what every word I speak has, too:

a result.

Nor is my mind exempt! Every thought I think has

a result.

Since that’s the case, I dare not

do what I want to do
say what I feel like saying
let my thoughts run

without first thinking through their consequences and what will happen

as a result.
