Better think twice, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…your destruction of animals will terrify you.”
(Habakkuk 2:17)

Seriously, Jesus?

Who cares that much about animals?

You do.

That means I’d be wise to care about them, too.

But a whole lot of people don’t.

They forget:

You’re their Creator!

which makes it a dangerous thing to ignore.

When You create

You’re invested.
You intend to fulfill Your purpose.

It would be a very good idea for me

to discover Your purpose for Your creation
and do my best to honor it.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“…you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.”
(Revelation 2:15-16)

These Nicolaitans were a dangerous bunch, Jesus.

They worshiped You…

right alongside false gods.

So, on the surface, it seemed like they were trying to do right

but by polluting their worship of You with evil

they led many astray.

You alone, LORD!

You alone.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“Deliverers will go up on Mount Zion to govern…”
(Obadiah 1:21)

This is a wonderful prophecy, Jesus!

But please help me remember this about Your Greatness:

You do more than one thing at once!

Yes, this prophecy foretells what will happen in Israel.

But it also teaches an exciting principle:

Those whose focus is helping and rescuing others

are the kind of people best suited
to lead, to rule, to govern.

Self-centered leaders are dangerous.

Deliver us from non-deliverers!

Pray this Lazaroo with total transparency:

“I heard you in the garden…”
(Genesis 3:10)

Adam had that 1on1 relationship with You, Jesus

and blew it.

He took it for granted, let Satan distract him, successfully tempt him

and lost it.

Now, for the first time in his life, he was hiding from You

didn’t want to talk.

So You pursued him!

Thank You for the countless times You’ve pursued me, LORD!
Sadly, I’ve experienced how scary, lonely and dangerous it is out there

without You.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“The Sovereign LORD has spoken – who can but prophesy?”
(Amos 3:8)

I agree, Jesus.

When I know the message is from You

how can I keep quiet?
how dare I keep my mouth shut?

But that’s the essential qualifier, isn’t it?

I have to know You’re the One who’s spoken.

The last thing I want to do is tell somebody something in Your Name

when You haven’t said it.

Misquoting anyone is dangerous.

But misquoting You
is the worst.

Pray this Lazaroo in a spirit of accountability:

“Mordecai found out about the plot and told Queen Esther…”
(Esther 2:22)

It’s not enough to find out about something dangerous, is it, Jesus?

I’ve got to tell somebody.

That in itself may be dangerous.

No matter.
I can’t keep it to myself and let something bad happen.

I may not be able to prevent it.

But You’re the One who made sure I learned about it.
I know You’re watching to see if I will do the right thing.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“When they left…”
(Joshua 2:22)

Joshua’s spies left when they had to, Jesus.

Otherwise, they would have failed in Your purpose.

There’s a time for me to leave, too.

Jobs…relationships…homes…churches…cities…countries –

any of those and plenty else –

are up for grabs.

But sometimes You call me to stay in them for now…

or for the duration.

So the reason for me to leave anything, anyone, anywhere

is not because it’s hard, boring, dangerous, painful

but only because You say so.

Pray this Lazaroo with utter abandon:

“He assigned…80,000 to be stonecutters…”
(2 Chronicles 2:18)

Not an easy job, Jesus.

Stone cutting requires skill, strength, training.

Not a particularly safe job, either.

Pieces of stone can put out an eye.
Hammers can miss their mark and crush

hands
fingers
arms
legs
feet.

Still, the job had to be done.

Your temple had to be built.

Many of the jobs You assign are like that –

requiring skill, strength, training, risk-taking courage –

because Your kingdom has to be built.

Pray this Lazaroo with sharpened eye:

“They are wild waves of the sea…”
(Jude 1:13)

From the perspective of a boat passenger, Jesus

I can only imagine what a wild wave person might be.

frightening
threatening
lethal.

On the sea, one wild wave

can sink a boat
drown hundreds
incur huge financial loss
divide friends and families
destroy carefully laid plans
end countless dreams.

One wild wave person can cause all of that and more.

O God!

Protect my little boat
from the wild wave.
