Pray this Lazaroo in deepest gratitude:

“Then Solomon said, ‘The Lord has said that he would dwell in a dark cloud’…”
(2 Chronicles 6:1)

I guess that’s something You told Solomon, Jesus

because that statement appears nowhere else in the Bible.

But I’m so thankful to hear it –

through every hard, torturous, dark cloud day I’m called to endure.

You’ve promised never to leave me nor forsake me.

That means so much on my good days
but it means a thousand times more on the bad.

Pray this Lazaroo in no-matter-what trust:

“…the livestock and the plunder from the towns we had captured we carried off for ourselves. From Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge, and from the town in the gorge, even as far as Gilead, not one town was too strong for us. The Lord our God gave us all of them.”
(Deuteronomy 2:35-36)

Thank You for giving us seasons like Jesus!

Please help us remember them

when You lead us through the dark valleys of loss.

Pray this Lazaroo with humility:

“…if you rely on the law and boast in God; if you know his will and approve of what is superior because you are instructed by the law; if you are convinced that you are a guide for the blind, a light for those who are in the dark, an instructor of the foolish, a teacher of little children…”
(Romans 2:17-20)

You’re kind of hard on those of us who think we’re “all that,” aren’t You, Jesus?

as well You should be.

Pray this Lazaroo with utter abandon:

“The sun will set for the prophets, and the day will go dark for them. The seers will be ashamed and the diviners disgraced. They will all cover their faces because there is no answer from God.”
(Micah 3:6-7)

That’s the price of disobedience, isn’t it, Jesus?

The miracles disappear.
The true prophets come up empty.

All that’s left are false prophets
who prophesy the delusions of their own minds.

O LORD!

Send a revival!
Send a revival!
Send a revival!

On this 11th Lazaroo anniversary, let’s pray together with burning zeal:

“Long ago you broke off your yoke and tore off your bonds…”
(Jeremiah 2:20)

That sounds wonderful, Jesus!

Freedom is good, right?

But not this time.

Your people had broken all ties to You.

To be free from obedience to You and Your Word

is to be shackled in a deep, dark, dank prison
on death row.

True freedom is found only in You.

Satan’s so-called “freedom” is built on lies and deceit
and ends in utter devastation.

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“I struck all the work of your hands with…mildew…”
(Haggai 2:17)

I hate mildew, Jesus –

that smelly, fungal invasion that leaches onto
my clothing, leather, paper – even the ceilings, walls and floors
of my home.

Mildew forms in dank, dark places, hidden away from fresh air and sunlight.

O God! Bring the fresh air of Your Word into my life.

And may the cleansing radiance of Your sun shine

…on every pocket of infestation
that needs to be eradicated.

Sell out totally to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…light dwells with him.”
(Daniel 2:22)

Knowing that makes things so simple, Jesus!

If I need to shed a little light on some problem

I need to hang out with You

because You’re where light hangs out.

Of course, the more I hang out with You

the less I’ll choose to live in darkness.

The only good reason I can think of to return to that sad, depressing gloom

is to point them to You
and Your amazing light.

Pray this Lazaroo with total transparency:

“…he knows what lies in darkness…”
(Daniel 2:22)

That’s so comforting, Jesus!

You’re able to protect me
from those lurking in shadows to harm me.

But it’s terrifying news for those who live in darkness.

One of the reasons they’ve chosen the gloom
is to hide what they’re doing.

O God!

Since their evil deeds are in plain sight before You
give them every incentive to

stop!

do an about face

and with Your help

turn their lives around.

Let the Light dawn, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…whoever hates his brother…walks around in the darkness…”
(1 John 2:11)

It’s bad enough to hate my brother or sister in You, Jesus

and be stuck in the darkness.

But You’re telling me it doesn’t stop there, Holy Spirit.

You’re explaining that to hate one of Your children –

no matter how weak or obnoxious

is to try to navigate the darkness

without a light.

There’s a whole lot of stumbling, falling, disappointment and pain.

That certainly explains a lot.

Pray this Lazaroo with concern:

“…whoever hates his brother is in the darkness…”
(1 John 2:11)

Sometimes I become so upset at what someone has said or done, Jesus

that I come dangerously close to hating them for it.

Not good. So I call it by a different name:

I say I “dislike” them
I “can’t stand” them
I “want nothing to do” with them.

Maybe that’s all it is.

But maybe it isn’t

which may explain some of this darkness I now battle.
