Pray this Lazaroo in Godly determination:

“The priests, who were heads of families, numbered 1,760. They were able men, responsible for ministering in the house of God.”
(1 Chronicles 9:13)

Make me like these, Jesus –

able…and responsible –
ministering in Your house.

Only You – the Giver of every good gift –

can make me competent to do Your Work!

Help me be truly responsible –

fulfilling my duties day after day, without fail.

And no matter where You place me in Your Church –

from the front to the back pew –

use me to minister to Your precious people!

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“…he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the depraved conduct of the lawless (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)…”
(2 Peter 2:7-8)

Am I tormented by the sin all around me, Jesus?

Or have I become numb to it, indifferent
shrugging it off as though it’s not that big of a deal?

Please. Help me always see sin

as You do.

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“Day after day they spoke to him but he refused to comply. Therefore they told Haman about it to see whether Mordecai’s behavior would be tolerated, for he had told them he was a Jew.”
(Esther 3:4)

When the laws of the land conflict with Your Word, Jesus

it’s no contest.

Traditions, customs, police, judges, mayors, governors presidents all lose.

You win.

The only reason I have to pray about it

is to learn from You the wisest way to proceed.

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intensity:

“…the older women…can train the younger women…to be self-controlled…”
(Titus 2:3-5)

Yes, they can, Jesus…

provided the older women are themselves self-controlled.

It’s somewhat difficult
to teach something you don’t do.

It’s also extremely helpful for younger women
to see self-control modeled day after day.

Of course, the other side of the equation

is that the younger women must be willing to be taught.

Self-control is hard!

They’ve got to passionately desire it
and be willing to pay the price.

Pray this Lazaroo with strategic intent:

“Consider then and realize…”
(Jeremiah 2:19)

The danger about life, Jesus

is that I keep tacking on day after day
allowing others to make my schedule for me
doing whatever pops into my mind

without taking time to carefully evaluate

where all this is leading me.

I know I should take stock more often than I do.

But if I don’t build into my schedule
reflective, 1on1 time with You

it’s not likely to happen, is it?

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck.”
(Proverbs 3:3)

Many of Your people have taken this command literally, Jesus.

They’ve made necklaces and choke chains of these words
and worn them day after day.

That’s a good thing!

It’s a reminder of what matters.
It sure beats the jewelry a lot of people wear.

But I suspect You intend that command to extend beyond wearable Scripture

all the way to my actions.

Today.

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intensity:

“Teach the older men to be…worthy of respect…”
(Titus 2:2.)

That’s what I want in an older man, Jesus

…and in an older woman.

Someone who’s living out Your life in them not only now and then

…but day after day after day.

I’m not particularly needing them to be perfect, though.

Give me somebody who’s made her share of mistakes

a man who’s blown it badly
then come back humble
stronger than ever

each day…more like You.

Pray this Lazaroo with determination:

“Malkijah…and Hasshub…repaired another section…”
(Nehemiah 3:11)

Some days that’s how it goes, Jesus.

In fact, most days that’s how it goes.

Another section, another task like yesterday’s, another day like the one before.

Not starting anything, not completing anything
slogging through the interminable middle.

At such times it’s hard to grab perspective.

It’s easy to lose the whole point

until I remember that this is what You call, “faithfulness”

and that You richly, lavishly, with absolute certainty

reward it.

Pray this Lazaroo in zealous love:

“She went into the field and has worked steadily from morning till now…”
(Ruth 2:7)

That’s the key, isn’t it, Jesus?

steadily.”

Doing a lot of work for a short while…stopping…doing some more later when I feel like it…

doesn’t have nearly the impact
that sticking with it day in/day out creates.

Steady work isn’t always flashy

but it gets the job done.

May I be a steady worker in Your fields

all day
every day
through harvest.
