Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable belief:

“…the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace.”
(Luke 1:78-79)

We don’t deserve it, Jesus!

But in Your tender mercy

cause your rising sun to shine down on us
as we desperately grope about in this land of darkness
battling the stench of death

…and guide us all the way Home.

Pray this Lazaroo in solemn self-appraisal:

“My eyes fail from weeping, I am in torment within; my heart is poured out on the ground because my people are destroyed…”
(Lamentations 2:11)

I could say the same about the people in my country, Jesus!

They’re racing down a steep slope of disobedience
heading straight for a cliff that will plunge them to their death.

But do my eyes fail from weeping
Am I in torment within?
Is my heart poured out on the ground?

We desperately need revival

but how much do I really care?

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“…have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: Who, being in very nature God…being found in appearance as a man…humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!
(Philippians 2:5-6, 8)

Here I am mightily struggling to humble myself, Jesus

when only a few things don’t go my way

while for me, You humbled Yourself
all the way to death.

If called upon, help me humble myself as You did

because You’re the Giver of Eternal Life!

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…the mystery of Christ…has now been revealed by the Spirit to God’s holy apostles and prophets. This mystery is that through the gospel the Gentiles are heirs together with Israel, members together of one body, and sharers together in the promise in Christ Jesus.”
(Ephesians 3:4-6)

This is stunning news, Jesus!

For eons, the Jews alone were Your chosen people.

But now, everyone who trusts in You

through Your death, burial and resurrection

belongs to You!

But even better –

You belong to them!

Pray this Lazaroo in utter amazement:

“…the mystery of Christ, which was not made known to people in other generations…”
(Ephesians 3:4-5)

Oh, they knew the Messiah was coming, Jesus –

from the very moment You confronted the serpent
in the Garden of Eden.

Through more than 500 verses of Scripture in the Old Testament

You continued to provide clues
all the way up to Your arrival in Bethlehem.

But not until Your stunning death, burial and resurrection

did the miraculous mystery of who You really are

finally sink in!

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Ezer and Elead were killed by the native-born men of Gath, when they went down to seize their livestock. Their father Ephraim mourned for them many days, and his relatives came to comfort him.
(1 Chronicles 7:21-22)

The loss of Ephraim’s livestock didn’t even register, Jesus

in comparison to the loss of his sons.

I’m sure he appreciated his relative’s attempts to comfort him

but the agony of this kind of tragedy
doesn’t disappear overnight.

There is a comfort

only You can give.

Pray this Lazaroo in deepest gratitude:

“For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?”
(2 Corinthians 2:15-16)

That explains some things, Jesus!

Why some people love Your words I share with them
and others hate those same words with shocking passion.

O God!

Keep me true!

Pray this Lazaroo in triumphant expectation:

“Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest in hope, because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, you will not let your holy one see decay.”
(Acts 2:26-27)

Those words of David were fulfilled in You, Jesus!

You were unjustly crucified to pay for the sins of all who believe
then rose from the dead on the third day!

And because You live forever

so will I!

Pray this Lazaroo in overcoming faith:

“Antipas, my faithful witness, who was put to death…”
(Revelation 2:13)

Oh, Jesus.

My first thought is, “Oh, no! Poor Antipas!”

But then I realize his death took him straight to heaven!

I can feel sorry for his friends and loved ones
but not for him.

My second thought is, “Oh, no! WHY Antipas?”

I mean, You Yourself said he was your “faithful witness.”

But then I envision the heavenly welcome he received

as Your faithful martyr.

Wow.

Pray this Lazaroo in ardent love:

“May you be richly rewarded by the LORD…”
(Ruth 2:12)

None of us deserves anything, Jesus!

We’re all sinners, saved only by Your grace.
Our righteous deeds are as filthy rags.

We’ve come to You, believing
trusting in Your death, burial and resurrection

not because of our own goodness
but because You granted us the gift of faith
drawing us to Yourself.

So when You reward me for some good thing I’ve done

that’s nothing less than a stunning heavenly gift!
