Pray this Lazaroo in prioritized humility:

“…I have forgiven…in order that Satan might not outwit us.”
(2 Corinthians 2:10-11)

When the sin against me is small, Jesus

forgiveness isn’t too tough.

I can shrug it off, chalk it up to…

“Nobody’s perfect. Everybody makes mistakes.”

But when someone betrays me, deliberately stabs me in the back

I really struggle to let it go.

Satan knows that. After all, he’s the original backstabber.

I need Your help, Father!

so that Satan doesn’t have the last laugh.

Pray this Lazaroo in deepest gratitude:

“Finding Philip, he said to him, ‘Follow me.’”
(John 1:43)

You deliberately left Galilee to find Phillip, Jesus

just like You deliberately chose, called and saved me.

There was nothing in my sinful human nature that would have chosen You

until You chose me.

Only then did I begin to grasp that You love me so much

that You went to the cross to pay for my sins

then rose from the dead

so we could be together

forever.

Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“…from this twenty-fourth day of the ninth month…”
(Haggai 2:18)

Sometimes You deliberately keep me in the dark, Jesus –

for my own good.

But at other times – like now – You nail the very day.

The ninth month You’re referring to is Kislev.

This year 24 Kislev falls on my December 22nd.
Last year it fell on my December 2nd.

That’s because the Jewish calendar is lunar
and my western calendar is solar.

But all time

belongs solely to You.

Pray this Lazaroo in sobered assessment:

“You have abandoned your people…”
(Isaiah 2:6)

It certainly seems like that during some seasons, Jesus

and in reality, You do abandon Your people
for a time.

When we repeatedly sin against You

You withdraw.

It’s one thing when we try and fail

repent, get up and try again.

But it’s an entirely different matter

when we willingly, knowingly, deliberately reject You.

That’s when You back off for a while

and let us stew
in our own foul juices.

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intensity:

“…knowing good and evil.”
(Genesis 3:5)

It’s one thing to know what’s good and what’s evil, Jesus

quite another to do one
and refuse the other.

Sure, there are some sins I might accidentally commit

some good deeds I inadvertently overlook.

But how can I claim ignorance as my excuse for any of those

when I refuse to obey even one of Your clear commands

or deliberately engage in an activity

that I know full well You have expressly forbidden?
