Passionately call on God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Hear us, our God, for we are despised. Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of captivity. Do not cover up their guilt or blot out their sins from your sight, for they have thrown insults in the face of the builders.”
(Nehemiah 4:4-5)

You hear the prayer of Your desperate followers who are doing Your will, Jesus!

I qualify as desperate.

Now I just need to make sure I’m following You

and doing exactly what You’ve called me to do.

Pray this Lazaroo in aching compassion:

“…what do your arguments prove? Do you mean to correct what I say, and treat my desperate words as wind? You would even cast lots for the fatherless and barter away your friend.”
(Job 6:25-27)

That must be how the suffering feel, Jesus

when I point out to them the error of their ways.

Job was in the right.
His friends in the wrong.

Is it possible I’m the one who’s in error?

Help me set a guard over my mouth.

Pray this Lazaroo with deep desire:

“May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:16-17)

I need to pray that prayer over those I love, Jesus!

Some of them desperately need You to encourage their hearts.

I would love for someone to pray that prayer over me, too.

You know what’s going on in my heart.
You know how much I need Your encouragement!

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“When the king of Moab saw that the battle had gone against him, he took with him seven hundred swordsmen to break through to the king of Edom, but they failed. Then he took his firstborn son, who was to succeed him as king, and offered him as a sacrifice on the city wall.”
(2 Kings 3:26-27)

Desperate people who don’t worship You

end up doing terrible, unthinkable things, Jesus!

May my faith be in You alone

causing me to do only what is good!

Pray this Lazaroo with faith in the God who can:

“The watchmen found me as they made their rounds in the city. ‘Have you seen the one my heart loves?’”
(Song of Songs 3:3-4)

Solomon’s wife was frightened – absolutely desperate, Jesus.

All through the night, her husband hadn’t come home.

Sleepless nights are hard.

Even more so, when I’m deeply worried
about someone I love.

At such times, I’m reminded of my utter vulnerability.
My worry won’t keep anyone safe, will it, Father?

Only You!
Only You!
Only You!

Pray this Lazaroo in desperate need:

“…rid yourselves of…all deceit…”
(1 Peter 2:1)

I hate being deceived, Jesus!

I long to take people at their word.

It’s so much work to study their body language
and facial giveaways.

I fervently wish I lived in a “what-you-see-is-what-you-get” world.

But I don’t.

So that means I have to be a good evaluator, doesn’t it?

Except…some people are really good deceivers.

Looks like I need to tap into one of Your priceless treasures –

the supernatural gift of discernment.

Pray this Lazaroo freed of illusion:

“My lover is mine…”
(Song of Songs 2:16)

What a desperate declaration for Solomon’s wife to make, Jesus

in light of the fact that she was only one of 700 –
not to mention Solomon’s 300 concubines.

The less we human beings possess, Father

the more we pretend to have.

It’s easy for me to see that in this woman’s behavior

but where am I exhibiting the same thing in my own?

Nothing I have is mine.
All is Yours.

Pray this Lazaroo with a listening ear:

“…send them on their way…”
(3 John 1:6)

That can be a euphemism for saying goodbye, Jesus.

But sometimes people don’t want to leave
even though I desperately want them to.

Maybe it’s because they’re lonely.

In that case, help me cut them some slack
and love on them a little more before they go.

But please help me recognize when it’s because they’re killing time!

so I can wisely, kindly, firmly
send them on their way without delay.

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“She who was barren has borne seven children…”
(1 Samuel 2:5)

Well…not everyone would like to give birth to seven children, Jesus

…except maybe someone who can’t give birth to one.

Seven kids might be a heap of hassle, challenge, expense and trouble

but it beats none.

If you want children.

Where am I hopelessly barren, LORD?

Where have I given up in total defeat?

Do You want to work through me to create life?

If so…

bring on the seven.
