Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“Now the glory of the God of Israel went up from above the cherubim, where it had been, and moved to the threshold of the temple. Then the Lord called…‘Go throughout the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of those who grieve and lament over all the detestable things that are done in it.’”
(Ezekiel 9:3-4)

Place that mark on my forehead, Jesus!

I’m brokenhearted about what is happening in my country
and around the world.

Because I’m faithful to Your Word

may many others receive that mark.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your being:

“The voices of your messengers will no longer be heard.”
(Nahum 2:13)

You sent Jonah to warn Ninevah of their impending doom, Jesus.

But when they repented
You relented!

Not this time.

Not long after You granted them a stay of execution
they went right back to their detestable sins.

They stopped sinning to avoid punishment
not because they hated and rejected what they had done.

Nahum was the last prophet You sent to them.

O God!
May I never cross that line!

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“The king also said to Shimei, ‘You know in your heart all the wrong you did to my father David. Now the Lord will repay you for your wrongdoing. But King Solomon will be blessed, and David’s throne will remain secure before the Lord forever.’”
(1 Kings 2:44-45)

For a long time, it looked like Shimei would get away with his detestable behavior, Jesus.

But You saw to it:

He didn’t.

Those who refuse to trust in You

never do.

Pray this Lazaroo in sobered recognition:

“In the last times there will be scoffers…”
(Jude 1:17)

As long as Satan has been doing his dirty work, Jesus

there have been scoffers –

ugly-spirited, detestable people who ridicule truth
who jeer, mock and treat with contempt
those who trust in Your Name.

But in the last times, their numbers will multiply.

They will be found everywhere –

in the streets, universities, entertainment, marketplace
in the highest offices of the land.

Just guessing…

but we might be in the last times.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“…the LORD alone will be exalted in that day, and the idols will totally disappear.”
(Isaiah 2:17)

Oh, how I long for that day, Jesus!

when I finally rid myself of the idols
that continue to lurk inside my heart.

I’m repulsed by the graven images I see all around the world.

But the ugliest and most detestable false gods of all

are those things in my life that to this very day
I catch myself putting ahead of You.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“…whenever any of the people offered a sacrifice, the priest’s servant would come with a three-pronged fork in his hand while the meat was being boiled and would plunge the fork into the pan or kettle or caldron or pot. Whatever the fork brought up the priest would take for himself.”
(1 Samuel 2:12-14)

What a detestable abuse of power, Jesus!

You judged and punished Samuel’s sons

and you will surely judge and punish those
who abuse their power today!

Pray this Lazaroo with deep concern:

“A detestable thing has been committed in Israel and in Jerusalem…”
(Malachi 2:11)

Hearing that creates a thud in my stomach, Jesus!

Without even knowing what it is
that statement coming from Your prophet
is cause for alarm.

Especially because I’ve done detestable things.

I deeply regret them now
but I can’t take them back.

All I can do is rely 100% on Your promise:

that for Your own sake, the detestable sins I’ve committed

You remember no more.

Pray this Lazaroo in devoted passion:

“You drive the women of my people from their pleasant homes.”
(Micah 2:9)

You love the women You’ve created, Jesus –

especially those descended from Abraham.

But when they sin again and again –

rejecting You, following other gods –

they’ll pay for their disobedience
and their detestable idolatry.

Though You’ve blessed me time after time beyond measure

If I reject You and put other things and people before You
You’ll do the same to me

because You discipline those You love.

Pray this Lazaroo with full-on caution:

“In their greed…”
(2 Peter 2:3)

People do a lot of shameful things, Jesus…

in their greed.

What is there about me that wants more than I need?

Why do I sometimes fail to consider that what I take for myself
could rob someone else of what they require?

But that raises the bigger question, doesn’t it?

Why do I act like it’s all about me?
Where do I get off behaving with this detestable attitude of –

“Me first?”

Pray this Lazaroo with a broken heart:

“God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.”
(Romans 1:26-27)

Some people think You have nothing to say about homosexuality in the New Testament, Jesus.

I guess they haven’t read this passage.
