Pray this Lazaroo overwhelmed with joy!

“…she took hold of his feet. Gehazi came over to push her away, but the man of God said, ‘Leave her alone! She is in bitter distress, but the Lord has hidden it from me and has not told me why.’ ‘Did I ask you for a son, my lord?’ she said. ‘Didn’t I tell you, “Don’t raise my hopes”?’”
(2 Kings 4:27-28)

You had worked a miracle for this woman, Jesus.

Now, she thought You had taken it away.

But it was only to set up everything

for an even greater miracle!

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“When Esther’s eunuchs and female attendants…told her about Mordecai, she was in great distress. She sent clothes for him to put on instead of his sackcloth, but he would not accept them. Then Esther summoned…one of the king’s eunuchs…and ordered him to find out what was troubling Mordecai and why.”
(Esther 4:4-5)

Help me not to judge the actions of others, Jesus.

I don’t know what they’re going through!

May I show them the same compassion I want to be shown

when my actions are offensive to others.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“The time is coming when I will cut short your strength and the strength of your priestly house, so that no one in it will reach old age, and you will see distress in my dwelling. Although good will be done to Israel, no one in your family line will ever reach old age.”
(1 Samuel 2:31-32)

Eli honored his sinning sons over You, Jesus.

Bad mistake.

You’ve commanded me to care for my family

but never if it dishonors You.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism.”
(Romans 2:9-11)

Not much of a debate about which way I should turn, Jesus!

Straight to You.

You don’t play favorites.

But if I obey You
I’ll be one of Your favorites.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“They were in great distress.”
(Judges 2:15)

Been there, Jesus.

But not, I hope, for the same reason they were.

You were fighting against them!

And of course, You were winning.
Every time.

Your people turned away from You to false gods and idols

provoking You to anger.

Not me, LORD! Never!

May all my great distress be caused by Satan
because I remain true to You.

I know You’ll fight my battles and utterly defeat him.

Every time.

Pray this Lazaroo…with transparency:

“I wrote you out of great distress…”
(2 Corinthians 2:4)

So much for the “super Christians” who say that no matter what happens

I should never become upset, Jesus.

As though my lack of concern is an indication of faith

and my emotional upset means I don’t trust You.

Not true!

If there ever was a “super Christian,” Paul was it
and he had no problem admitting that he was in “great distress.”

Perhaps “super Christianity”

begins with honesty.
