Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“Surely he has done great things! Do not be afraid, land of Judah; be glad and rejoice. Surely the Lord has done great things! Do not be afraid, you wild animals, for the pastures in the wilderness are becoming green. The trees are bearing their fruit; the fig tree and the vine yield their riches.”
(Joel 2:20-22)

It’s all about You, Jesus

not my circumstances.

It doesn’t matter that my present landscape is barren.

You’re faithful.
You’re on Your way.

As I keep my eyes fixed on You

my desert will blossom!

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“You have wearied the Lord with your words. ‘How have we wearied him?’ you ask. By saying, ‘All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord’…”
(Malachi 3:17)

That’s like saying You don’t care, Jesus!

…that Your Word doesn’t matter
that we can live any old way we like

while You shrug with a half-smile on Your face
and say, “Oh, well, that’s cool.”

But it isn’t.

For those who deliberately flaunt Your loving laws

one day they will discover to their horror:

it’s very, very hot.

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.”
(1 Corinthians 3:8-9)

Doesn’t matter where I serve in Your Church, Jesus –

up front or behind the scenes –

our purpose is the same:

We’re serving You!

Since I’m Your field

make me productive!

Since I’m Your building

make me welcoming
for those who need shelter.

Sell out totally to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron—for iron breaks and smashes everything—and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others. Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom…”
(Daniel 2:40-41)

Doesn’t matter how strong a kingdom is, Jesus.

A house divided against itself cannot stand –

which is a warning to my nation

right now.

Pray this Lazaroo with higher intent:

“Woe to him who builds a city with bloodshed and establishes a town by injustice! Has not the Lord Almighty determined that the people’s labor is only fuel for the fire, that the nations exhaust themselves for nothing?”
(Habakkuk 2:12-13)

When the purpose is evil, Jesus

it never stands.

Doesn’t matter how hard they work.
Doesn’t matter how smart they are.
Doesn’t matter how much money they spend.

Purify all my purposes, LORD!

If I’m going to exhaust myself
I want it to count for eternity!

Pray this Lazaroo with fiery devotion:

“…his mother spoke up and said, ‘No! He is to be called John.’ They said to her, ‘There is no one among your relatives who has that name.’ Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child.”
(Luke 1:60-62)

They totally disrespected John the Baptist’s mother, Jesus.

Since what she said didn’t make sense to them
they ignored her.

But she knew what You wanted.

What the crowd thought

didn’t matter.

Pray this Lazaroo in absolute confidence:

“…the foundation of the house of the LORD was laid.”
(Ezra 3:11)

The foundation is all important, isn’t it, Jesus?

It doesn’t matter how well the rest of the house is built.
If the foundation is bad, the house will crack, sag

eventually fall.

There’s only one Foundation worth building my life on:

You!

Back in the 1800s, Edward Mote nailed it:

On Christ the Solid Rock I stand
All other ground is sinking sand
All other ground is sinking sand.

Get your priorities straight as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Woe to him who builds his realm by unjust gain…”
(Habakkuk 2:9)

I catch myself wanting to get ahead, Jesus.

But You make it clear:

If I cheat to do so
I’ll end up behind.

Worse yet, there’s the punishment

that accompanies the transgression.

Why would I break Your rules in an attempt to succeed on this earth?

What happens on this planet is only the preseason.
It doesn’t matter whether I win or lose here.

My reward
is in Heaven.

Pray this Lazaroo in unexpected gratitude:

“I have found a man among the exiles…”
(Daniel 2:25)

That’s not where most people would look for top leadership, Jesus.

Exiles can be surly, ill-tempered, out-of-sorts.
They can have a chip on their shoulders.

After all, they were forcibly removed from their homeland.
Besides, how smart can they be…if they couldn’t escape?

But You delight in using people others disrespect!

When I’m choosing a leader

May I care more about the quality of person
than where they came from.

Pray this Lazaroo in simple, obedient trust:

“Go now to your countrymen in exile and speak to them.”
(Ezekiel 3:11)

When somebody goes to such people with a message from You

they may not be thrilled to hear it –

especially if they think I’m coming across as
“holier than thou.”

I know I’m not.

But when I speak with Your authority
they may mistakenly think I’m speaking with mine.

Still, it doesn’t matter.

If you send me to a group of suspicious, grouchy people

I’ll go.
