Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“…what I dreaded has happened to me.”
(Job 3:25)

They hang over all of us, Jesus –

these fears of what might happen.

You spare us from so many of them!

Hallelujah! Thank You! Thank You! Thank You!

But not from all.

Sometimes, what we most wanted to escape
grabs us around the neck in its cruel clutches.

The thing is…

You could have kept that from happening.

But You didn’t.

Because in deep, faithful love

You know best.

Pray this Lazaroo with God-inspired anticipation:

“On the first day…”
(Jonah 3:4)

First days are momentous, Jesus!

They’re full of excitement, promise, hope, new beginnings.

Sometimes.

Of course, I can also dread a first day.

It may represent the unknown.
It may remind me that this is only one step in a very long journey.

But ultimately, I have to keep undertaking first days, don’t I?

If I don’t begin, I’ll never finish.

But I beg You:

Don’t let me begin anything outside of Your will!

Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“Go into the rocks, hide in the ground from dread of the LORD…”
(Isaiah 2:10)

As if, Jesus.

Now, where are we gonna hide?

You made the rocks and the ground on which they lie.

You know the exact location
of every cave, nook, closet, cranny and hidey-hole.

No one’s ever going to hide anything from You…

But there’s no need to dread!

All I have to do is surrender

to become the person You’ve created me to be.
