Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you.”
(Philippians 2:17)

Can I say that, Jesus?

Is it okay with me if I appear to fail so others can succeed?

I know I should say it.

More importantly, I know I should wholeheartedly embrace it.

Clearly, I have a long way to go

but You see into my heart:

You know I want to get there.

Pray this Lazaroo with a fervent heart!

“You levy a straw tax on the poor and impose a tax on their grain. Therefore, though you have built stone mansions, you will not live in them; though you have planted lush vineyards, you will not drink their wine. For I know how many are your offenses and how great your sins.”
(Amos 5:11-12)

When I cheat to get something, Jesus

I’m fooling no one but myself.
You’ll see to that!

Help me serve You with integrity

and leave the blessings to You.

Pray this Lazaroo with faith in the God who can:

“I have come into my garden, my sister, my bride; I have gathered my myrrh with my spice. I have eaten my honeycomb and my honey; I have drunk my wine and my milk. [Friends]: Eat, friends, and drink; drink your fill of love.”
(Song of Songs 5:1)

You’ve placed the Song of Songs in the middle of our Bibles, Jesus

to remind us You’re the Creator of sexual love

and when it’s kept between a husband and wife

it’s beautiful and holy!

Pray this Lazaroo with eyes of wisdom:

“…they cannot rest until they do evil; they are robbed of sleep till they make someone stumble. They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence. The path of the righteous is like the morning sun, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.”
(Proverbs 4:16-18)

What a contrast, Jesus!

The life of the wicked

vs.

The life of the righteous.

I choose Your sun-drenched path, Father!

Lead me in every good and perfect way!

Pray this Lazaroo in submissive faith:

“‘…measure out a sixth of a hin of water and drink it at set times. Eat the food as you would a loaf of barley bread; bake it in the sight of the people…The Lord said, ‘In this way the people of Israel will eat defiled food among the nations where I will drive them.’”
(Ezekiel 4:11-13)

You were making a spectacle of your prophet, Jesus

to warn Your sinning people.

If that’s what You need to do with me

I’m Yours.
Do with me as You will.

Pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“I sent messengers to Sihon king of Heshbon offering peace and saying, ‘Let us pass through your country. We will stay on the main road; we will not turn aside to the right or to the left. Sell us food to eat and water to drink for their price in silver.’ But Sihon…refused to let us pass through.”
(Deuteronomy 2:26-28; 30)

There are going to be days like that, Jesus.

I’ve experienced a few of them.

But it helps to remember

it happened in accordance with Your perfect plan.

Be comforted! as you pray this Lazaroo:

“You will be filled with shame instead of glory. Now it is your turn! Drink and let your nakedness be exposed! The cup from the Lord’s right hand is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory.
(Habakkuk 2:16)

This is Your promise, Jesus:

The day is coming

when You will repay every unrepentant, evil person
for the devastation they have caused!

When I see one of them getting away with it

please remind me:

They aren’t.

Pray this Lazaroo in quiet trust:

“The couriers went out, spurred on by the king’s command, and the edict was issued in the citadel of Susa. The king and Haman sat down to drink, but the city of Susa was bewildered.”
(Esther 3:15)

The deadly plot Haman hatched against Your people

quickly spread throughout the kingdom, Jesus

leaving fear in its wake.

No matter!

What you had planned for Haman and all like him

was about to backfire

and bring about their total destruction.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“By the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let people or animals, herds or flocks, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink. But let people and animals be covered with sackcloth.”
(Jonah 3:7-8)

First of all, that’s downright impressive, Jesus.

I’ve never heard of covering animals with sackcloth.
None of the people’s sins was the animals’ fault!

Clearly, this king was over-the-top humbling himself before You.

No wonder You relented!

That’s an example I need to keep in mind.

Take it to heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Do not let people or animals, herds or flocks, taste anything; do not let them eat or drink.”
(Jonah 3:7)

Why would the king of Ninevah issue such a harsh decree, Jesus?

It was because of Jonah’s preaching, wasn’t it?

After You forced him to show up in that wicked city
You declared You were about to destroy them.

The king took You at Your Word and went all out to change your mind.

How seriously do I take Your warnings?
