Pray this Lazaroo with a humble heart:

“Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few. A dream comes when there are many cares, and many words mark the speech of a fool.”
(Ecclesiastes 5:2-3)

I admit it, Jesus.

Looking back over my life, I’m been too quick with my mouth.
Looking back over the last 24 hours may not be any better!

Help me, Holy Spirit

not to utter the speech of a fool.

Pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled.”
(Matthew 5:3-6)

Who could make such promises – and then fulfill them, Jesus –

to the poor in spirit, those who mourn,
the meek, the hungry and thirsty?

Only You.

Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable belief:

“Cain said to the Lord, ‘My punishment is more than I can bear. Today you are driving me from the land, and I will be hidden from your presence; I will be a restless wanderer on the earth, and whoever finds me will kill me.’ But the Lord said to him, ‘Not so; anyone who kills Cain will suffer vengeance seven times over.’”
(Genesis 4:13-15)

You are stunningly good to the worst of us, Jesus!

…which explains why You are so good to me.

Pray this Lazaroo in trembling awareness:

“The Lord Almighty declares, ‘I will send it out, and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of anyone who swears falsely by my name. It will remain in that house and destroy it completely, both its timbers and its stones.’”
(Zechariah 5:4)

Pretty scary, Jesus.

So…what are You going to send out?

That flying scroll that carries a curse.

Is that flying scroll hovering above the earth right now?

…above my country…my family…

…above me?

If so, only this will prevent it from entering:

Repentance and Obedience.

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“The Lord will be awesome to them when he destroys all the gods of the earth. Distant nations will bow down to him, all of them in their own lands. ‘You Cushites, too, will be slain by my sword.’”
(Zephaniah 2:11-12)

No matter who You use to punish the wicked, Jesus

the sword is Yours.

You’ve given us free will

but somehow, in Your brilliance,
we all end up doing exactly
what You want us to do.

No one can thwart Your Plan of the Ages

nor Your Plan of this Moment.

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“Ask the former generation and find out what their ancestors learned, for we were born only yesterday and know nothing, and our days on earth are but a shadow. Will they not instruct you and tell you? Will they not bring forth words from their understanding?”
(Job 8:8-10)

What refreshing, humble words of wisdom, Jesus!

May I never be counted among the proud
who regard older saints with disdain

as though modern times
make their counsel irrelevant!

Technology changes.
People don’t.

The hard-won experience of the aged

is priceless.

Pray this Lazaroo with overflowing joy:

“By faith in the name of Jesus, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is Jesus’ name and the faith that comes through him that has completely healed him, as you can all see.”
(Acts 3:16)

What a powerful witness, Jesus!

Thank You for instantly healing that man –
lame from birth!

Of course, the day came when he died.

No matter how many miracles You perform on earth
they’re temporary…except for one:

Your gift to all who believe
of eternal life.

Pray this Lazaroo with wholehearted adoration:

“The Lord said, ‘What have you done? Listen! Your brother’s blood cries out to me from the ground. Now you are under a curse and driven from the ground, which opened its mouth to receive your brother’s blood from your hand. When you work the ground, it will no longer yield its crops for you. You will be a restless wanderer on the earth.’”
(Genesis 4:10-12)

What have I done, Jesus?

I deserve to be a restless wanderer…

but in Your stunning mercy to me through the cross

I rest in Your loving arms!

Pray this Lazaroo in humble recognition:

“This is what they will get in return for their pride, for insulting and mocking the people of the LORD Almighty. The LORDwill be awesome to them when he destroys all the gods of the earth. Distant nations will bow down to him, all of them in their own lands.”
(Zephaniah 2:10-11)

May You never be awesome to me for that reason, Jesus!

But I will rejoice with You
when You destroy all the gods of the earth.

including the idols
I battle in my own life.

Pray this Lazaroo with utter abandon:

LORD, I have heard of your fame; I stand in awe of your deeds, LORD.”
(Habakkuk 3:2)

You can do anything, Jesus.

Already, You’ve pretty much done everything.

Creating the heavens and earth was amazing.
So were Your virgin birth, healing the blind
walking on water, raising the dead
rising from Your tomb on the third day.

By comparison, my requests seem puny

but they’re a big deal to me.

I know You can.

With bated breath, I’m waiting and hoping

that You Will.
