Pray this Lazaroo with keen anticipation:

“When Elisha reached the house, there was the boy lying dead on his couch. He went in, shut the door on the two of them and prayed to the Lord…As he stretched himself out on him, the boy’s body grew warm…The boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes.”
(2 Kings 4:32-35)

You don’t usually raise the dead, Jesus.

Until it’s time for us to die You protect us.

But every once in a while You do the impossible!

to remind us You can.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Gehazi went on ahead and laid the staff on the boy’s face, but there was no sound or response. So Gehazi went back to meet Elisha and told him, ‘The boy has not awakened.’ When Elisha reached the house, there was the boy lying dead on his couch.”
(2 Kings 4:31-32)

That’s how some of my lifelong desires appear, Jesus:

dead.

But You’re the Giver of Life!

Just as You raised this dead boy to life

You can raise to life every one of my dreams

that are in keeping with Your will.

Pray this Lazaroo with explosive feeling:

“Elisha said to Gehazi, ‘Tuck your cloak into your belt, take my staff in your hand and run. Don’t greet anyone you meet, and if anyone greets you, do not answer. Lay my staff on the boy’s face.’ But the child’s mother said, ‘As surely as the Lord lives and as you live, I will not leave you.’ So he got up and followed her.”
(2 Kings 4:29-30)

This Shunammite woman knew who had it, Jesus…

and who didn’t.

Help me know the same.

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“It is written: ‘I believed; therefore I have spoken.’ Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself.”
(2 Corinthians 4:13-14)

Be faith I say this, Jesus:

I have that same spirit of faith You placed in Paul.
The same You placed in Abraham, Moses, Elisha, Isaiah.

It’s You. All You.

As You did through them
perform Your full, holy, perfect will through me.

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“Gehazi said, ‘She has no son, and her husband is old.’ Then Elisha said, ‘Call her.’ So he called her, and she stood in the doorway. ‘About this time next year,’ Elisha said, ‘you will hold a son in your arms.’ ‘No, my lord!’ she objected. ‘Please, man of God, don’t mislead your servant!’”
(2 Kings 4:14-16)

Some of us can’t believe how good You’re willing to be to us, Jesus!

But You’ve already given Your life for me.

Why wouldn’t You do amazing things for me…

and through me!

Go and do likewise, after you pray this Lazaroo!

“One day when Elisha came, he went up to his room and lay down there. He said to his servant Gehazi, ‘Call the Shunammite.’ So he called her, and she stood before him. Elisha said to him, ‘Tell her, “You have gone to all this trouble for us. Now what can be done for you?”’”
(2 Kings 4:11-13)

I love that Elisha did that, Jesus.

So do You.

You had prompted this Shunammite woman to be good to Elisha

so he wanted You to do something special for her!

Pray this Lazaroo with explosive feeling:

“Elisha said, “Go around and ask all your neighbors for empty jars. Don’t ask for just a few. Then go inside and shut the door behind you and your sons. Pour oil into all the jars, and as each is filled, put it to one side.”
(2 Kings 4:3-4)

She didn’t have enough oil to fill even one jar, Jesus.

But before You worked the miracle
You required her – in an act of faith –
to collect a houseful of empty jars.

All my empty jars are sitting here, Jesus!

Ready.

Pray this Lazaroo with newfound respect:

“…‘my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.’ Elisha replied…, ‘How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?’ ‘…nothing there at all,’ she said, ‘except a small jar of olive oil.’”
(2 Kings 4:1-2)

But with You, Jesus

that’s all it takes, isn’t it?

Something little.

In fact, You prefer it that way

because when the miracle happens

we know it’s You!

Pray this Lazaroo in heartfelt gratitude:

“‘…bring me a harpist.’ While the harpist was playing, the hand of the Lord came on Elisha and he said, ‘This is what the Lord says: I will fill this valley with pools of water.’”
(2 Kings 3:15-16)

Of course, I don’t know, Jesus…

but I suspect asking for a harpist
had more to do with Elisha’s preferences than Yours.

You don’t require a harpist to speak to us.

But I’m deeply touched by the leeway You allow us
as we reach out to You.
