Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“To Philemon our dear friend and fellow worker…”
(Philemon 1:1)

It’s great to have a friend, Jesus

and what would I do, if I didn’t have people to work alongside me?

But to have both in one person – a friend and fellow worker –

is golden.

Thank You for every one of them You’ve placed in my life!

Bless them richly.
Protect them.

Help me show them the love and gratitude I feel for them.

Enable me to be a great friend and fellow worker to others!

Pray this Lazaroo with heightened intensity:

“…be like a gazelle…”
(Song of Songs 2:17)

Lover talk, Jesus.

Good stuff. Wow.

But as with most of this fascinating book

there’s a spiritual application too, isn’t there?

I can’t match the gazelle’s 50 mph speed –

almost, but not quite as fast as the cheetah –

which loves to dine on gazelle.

But maybe I can match the gazelle’s intensity

as it attempts to elude its hunter.

O Great God:

Enable me to escape from Satan’s relentless pursuit!

Pray this Lazaroo with righteous determination:

“…without anger…”
(1 Timothy 2:8)

There’s righteous anger, Jesus

but that’s not what You’re talking about, is it?

You’re telling me to worship You and serve You and interact with others

free of the caustic acid of unrighteous anger.

My anger.

Where do I allow that to creep in, Holy Spirit?

Show me!

So rise up within me in Your love and power

that You enable me to totally eradicate it from my life.

In Jesus’ Name!

Amen.

Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“…these teachers will exploit you…”
(2 Peter 2:3)

That’s not what they’re supposed to do, Jesus

not even teachers who don’t know You
let alone those who claim they do.

Teachers are supposed to dispense information

at the very least enable us to regurgitate it
at best…equip us to lead better, more productive lives

maybe even Godly lives.

So when a teacher sells out to exploit their students?

My guess is:

In Your perfect way and time
You’ll step in.

Pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“He shall burn all the fat on the altar…”
(Leviticus 4:26)

Just as You commanded the priest to offer an animal on the altar, Jesus

so You invite me to offer myself to You as a living sacrifice
holy and pleasing in Your sight.

As I do, please enable me to burn up all the fat!

By that, I mean those things I’m doing that are unhealthy –

physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually –

whatever is cheating me out of Your best.

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…the…struggle…you saw I had…”
(Philippians 1:30)

So how do I respond to people’s struggles, Jesus?

Sometimes I hurt with them, feel it to the bone
fervently pray.

But at other times, not so much.

Sometimes I quickly look away
not wanting to grapple with it.

Sometimes I shudder,
thinking, “Glad it’s not me.”

Sometimes I believe they’re getting
what they deserve.

Forgive me, LORD!

Enable me to respond to their pain
as I beg You to respond to mine.
