Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“…women are to be worthy of respect…”
(1 Timothy 3:11)

So are the men, Jesus.

We’re not merely to demand respect.
You expect us to earn it.

How?

By the way we speak
by the way we act.

by the way we live our lives wholeheartedly for You –

staying in Your Word
praying through the day
loving and encouraging Your people

sharing Your Good News
with those who don’t know You

showing others the same mercy
we ourselves have received from You.

Pray this Lazaroo in breakthrough understanding:

“My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding…”
(Colossians 2:2)

Wow, Jesus.

Complete understanding doesn’t come from hours of research alone.

It’s incomplete

until Your people are encouraged in heart
and united in love.

That doesn’t mean You don’t want us to study Your Word.

You do!

But it does mean that there’s no substitute

for the loving, encouraging assembling of ourselves together.

Pray this Lazaroo with Golden Rule Godliness:

“How painful are honest words!”
(Job 6:25)

That’s so true, Jesus.

Honest words can be incredibly painful –

Especially when I’m telling someone
something they don’t want to hear
but need to hear.

Help me be honest with everyone!

But also…

help me be kind.

There’s a way to tell a hard truth
using soft, encouraging, uplifting, hope-filled words

and to do so with a humble spirit
in mutual respect

telling others the truth
the way I want it told to me.

Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and all of you know the truth.”
(1 John 2:20)

At first, that sounds so encouraging, Jesus –

and it is.

I’m thoroughly, totally, absolutely equipped to succeed!

But at second look, it scares me to death.

I do know the truth…

which makes me responsible to live it.

I can’t plead ignorance.

So maybe I’d better plead for Your mercy, grace and power

to do what I know to do.

Take sincere warning, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.”
(Hebrews 3:12-13)

The role of encouragement is huge, isn’t it, Jesus?

It’s so easy to become bogged down
by Satan’s insidious temptations and incessant lies.

Please help me encourage and be encouraged!

every single day.

Sell out totally to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…you will suffer persecution for ten days.”
(Revelation 2:10)

At first glance, that’s not a particularly uplifting message, Jesus!

You could have prevented persecution from ever touching their lives.

But on second look, it is encouraging:

Since You chose not to prevent the persecution
there had to be a good reason for it.

You never allow Satan to touch Your people unless it’s worthwhile –

to You and to us.

Good to remember…

next time You allow persecution to come my way.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“…comfort from his love…”
(Philippians 2:1)

Oh, Jesus.

There’s no greater comfort than Your love!

Your love is real.
Your love is strong.
Your love is warm.
Your love is encouraging.
Your love is consistent.
Your love is precious.
Your love is everlasting –

for You love me best when I deserve it least.

The love of all others combined cannot compare

except badly.

When I’m beautifully loved by others

I discover that they’re loving me

with Your love.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“The Merarites were appointed to take care of the frames of the tabernacle, its crossbars…”
(Numbers 3:36)

The crossbars don’t get as much attention as other tent pieces, Jesus

but they were crucially important to Your tabernacle in the wilderness

helping to evenly distribute the load
providing essential stability when struck by desert winds.

I need crossbars in my life, Father!

Your Word
time with You in prayer
encouraging Christian friends

and may I be a crossbar for them.

Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“…appointing Levites twenty years of age and older to supervise the building…”
(Ezra 3:8)

I can only imagine how this went over with an experienced, 40 year-old carpenter, Jesus –

having someone half his age
who had never hammered a nail

“supervise” him.

But a gifted supervisor can alleviate those concerns by being

kind
respectful
humble
encouraging
appreciative

regardless of age or lack of experience.

May I be willing to treat others
the way I want them to treat me.
