Pray this Lazaroo from a heart full of praise:

“…the LORD alone will be exalted in that day.”
(Isaiah 2:11)

Clearly, that day hasn’t arrived, Jesus –

though it’s long, long overdue.

On every day since anyone in heaven or earth existed

You should be the only one exalted.

Everything good that we think, say, have or do

comes from You.

I can’t control what others do or don’t do about that

but I am determined to exalt You alone
each and every day on earth
and throughout eternity.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Now I rejoice…”
(Colossians 1:24)

Being able to rejoice in something good is wonderful, Jesus!

But that word, “Now” gives me pause.

Maybe Paul didn’t mean it how it sounds…

but I might infer that only because He liked what he was seeing
could he now begin to rejoice.

But by faith –

You want me to rejoice in You and what You’re doing
every day of my life – at all times!

whether I like what’s happening
or not.

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“If you have any encouragement…”
(Philippians 2:1)

I do have encouragement, Jesus!

And I know where it comes from:

You.

Satan is the discourager.

You’re the Encourager.

Every day – in countless ways –

You show Yourself strong for me.

Of course, I have to have eyes to see it.

Some days I don’t.

I’m so focused on the one or two things I don’t like

that I fail to see the innumerable evidences
of Your love, mercy and grace.

Pray this Lazaroo in gratitude-packed passion:

“…proclaim to it the message I give you.”
(Jonah 3:2)

That’s my assignment, isn’t it, Jesus?

Wherever You send me
I’m to proclaim the message You give me.

Sometimes the message is in words

at other times through actions, attitude.

More than a few times
it’s about what I don’t do or say.

This isn’t a temporary assignment, is it?

It’s permanent – every day, week, month, year
all the way to the end here

and into heaven eternally.

Pray this Lazaroo in zealous love:

“Therefore, remember…”
(Ephesians 2:11)

Every day of my life You’re teaching me, Holy Spirit.

Every day of my life You’re guiding me, Father –

through the things that make life sweet
through the challenges that make life hard
through the daily grind that makes up most of life.

I don’t want You to have to repeat Yourself over and over again.

I want to squeeze every ounce of lesson
You pack into every moment of my life, Jesus

and never forget.

Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“God…led you in the way…”
(Jeremiah 2:17)

I spend a lot of time begging You to lead me, Jesus

while wondering how I got where I am.

Maybe because things didn’t turn out the way I had hoped.

Maybe because of the challenges I face every day.

I think to myself, “Did I miss Your voice, LORD?”

But when I get far enough out and look back
I realize with amazement:

You led me every step of the way.

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“…the Lord will give you insight…”
(2 Timothy 2:7)

Yes You will, Jesus –

insight like no other.

The insight I’m able to glean from others is based on

their experience
educated guesses
outright speculation.

But the insight You provide comes from the fact

that You know everything about everything

because You created it
see every aspect of it
totally understand it.

Next time I need to learn something

(that would be every day!)

I think I’ll go to You.

Pray this Lazaroo with undying love:

“…you continue…”
(3 John 1:3)

Many people start, Jesus.

Few continue.

Continuing requires character.

It means I keep going no matter what.
It means I stay the course in spite of how I feel.

It means I set my jaw and refuse to be pushed off track

even when it appears what I’m doing
isn’t going to pay off.

To continue requires not only everything I’ve got

but forces me to lean on You
every moment of the day.

Pray this Lazaroo with undying love:

“I pray…”
(3 John 1:2)

O Jesus!

As I plunge into this New Year
may this increasingly be true of me:

I pray.

Not past tense –

something I did for a while
got discouraged, distracted, disappointed

lost focus

then quit.

Not future tense –

something I sincerely mean to get around to
as soon as I get the chance

unless, of course, something comes up.

But something I do present tense –

come rain or shine throughout the day
every day.
