Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. ‘If you are the Son of God,’ he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: ‘’He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”
(Matthew 4:5-6)

Help me never forget, Jesus:

When the devil quotes Scripture

it’s always twisted out of context
always for an evil purpose.

Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“…the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the flesh and despise authority.”
(2 Peter 2:9-10)

There are times and circumstances, Jesus

when none of us likes being told what to do.

And of course, there are evil people in authority

whose sinful commands must be disobeyed.

But may I always be wholeheartedly responsive

to the commands of Your Word!

Pray this Lazaroo with a heart that hungers for God:

“…I am less than the least of all the Lord’s people…”
(Ephesians 3:8)

Paul knew the murderous evil he had done, Jesus.

He knew You were aware of it, too

along with countless others.

His reputation among some of Your followers was great

but for good reason
others of Your people hated and feared him.

Sometimes a person’s past behavior gives them away

but with others it’s all in the past.

O Holy Spirit!
How I need Your discernment!

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“Dispatches were sent by couriers to all the king’s provinces with the order to destroy, kill and annihilate all the Jews—young and old, women and children—on a single day, the thirteenth day of the twelfth month, the month of Adar, and to plunder their goods.”
(Esther 3:13)

How could such an evil thing happen, Jesus –

especially to Your chosen people?

It was because You were about to rescue them
and also destroy their enemies!

Help me to remember that

next time something evil shows up at my door.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“They feed on the sins of my people and relish their wickedness. And it will be: Like people, like priests. I will punish both of them for their ways and repay them for their deeds. They will eat but not have enough; they will engage in prostitution but not flourish, because they have deserted the Lord to give themselves to prostitution…”
(Hosea 4:8-10)

Remove from me every hint, every shred of that evil, Jesus!

May I hate wickedness as much as You do!

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

There will be trouble and distress for every human being who does evil: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile; but glory, honor and peace for everyone who does good: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For God does not show favoritism.”
(Romans 2:9-11)

Not much of a debate about which way I should turn, Jesus!

Straight to You.

You don’t play favorites.

But if I obey You
I’ll be one of Your favorites.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“…you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth.”
(Revelation 2:15-16)

These Nicolaitans were a dangerous bunch, Jesus.

They worshiped You…

right alongside false gods.

So, on the surface, it seemed like they were trying to do right

but by polluting their worship of You with evil

they led many astray.

You alone, LORD!

You alone.

Pray this Lazaroo with all-out rejoicing!

“Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom…”
(James 2:12)

Most people think Your law handcuffs people

and places them in bondage, Jesus.

But no!

Your law – the law of love You established on the cross –

grants those who place their faith in You alone

true, lasting freedom!

It’s sin that lands me behind bars

imprisons and entangles me in its evil tentacles

and takes away all my good options.

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“Lord my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands—if I have repaid my ally with evil or without cause have robbed my foe—then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust.”
(Psalms 7:3-5)

David was absolutely confident of his righteousness, Jesus!

I…not so much.

All I can pray is:

Please be merciful to me, a repentant sinner.

Beg God for supernatural discernment, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“After these events, King Xerxes honored Haman…”
(Esther 3:1)

You don’t tell us why the king honored this awful man, Jesus.

Maybe it was because of Haman’s family connections.
Perhaps the king’s advisers thought it was a good idea.
Maybe Haman possessed skills the king needed.

But honoring Haman was an absolutely atrocious decision

because the man was evil to the bone.

Help me never forget, LORD:

If a person is great in every area except character

they’re poison.
