Pray this Lazaroo in deep, wholehearted repentance:

“Look, Lord, and consider: Whom have you ever treated like this? Should women eat their offspring, the children they have cared for? Should priest and prophet be killed in the sanctuary of the Lord?…You have slain them in the day of your anger; you have slaughtered them without pity.”
(Lamentations 2:20-21)

There’s a price for rejecting You, Jesus

severe penalties await those
who knowingly, deliberately, callously
flaunt their disobedience.

These serve as my examples.

I want no part of it!

Pray this Lazaroo in unwavering trust:

“But these people blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like unreasoning animals, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed…”
(2 Peter 2:12)

It’s hard for us to grasp the stunning reality of what You’re saying, Jesus:

You’ve placed some of the people on this planet

for the express purpose

of being examples of what happens

when we disobey You:

Anyone who repeatedly does so without repentance

will be cast into the lake of fire.

Sell out totally to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good.”
(3 John 1:11)

Okay, Jesus.

I’m absolutely done with evil!

Show me the good You want me to imitate.

There are the awesome examples in Your Word.
The Bible’s chock full of them!

Then there are the Godly people walking this earth.
May I be inspired by those You’ve placed in my life!

It would be pretty cool

if one day I could be that kind of example to others.

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“…encourage the young men to be self-controlled.”
(Titus 2:6)

Of course, all of us need to be self-controlled, Jesus

not just young men

but also young women, older women, older men.

Perhaps that’s because it’s harder for a young man to learn…

not to mention so very important.

I love the word, “encourage,” though!

Not simply a gruff command

but using words that explain
offer helpful examples
give incentive
inspire hope

letting these young men know:

They can do this!

…and so can I.

Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“…the LORD raised up a judge for them…”
(Judges 2:18)

Yes, these judges settled disputes, Jesus…

but they were far more than that.

They were leaders, examples, warriors –

courageous people willing to go first
take initiative, exercise responsibility.

God give us men and women like that in our age!

We have a few…
but at least to me –

it looks like we need many more.

You’re the only one who can raise up such people.

Please!

Send them out.

Pray this Lazaroo with excuseless humility:

“…and turned many from sin.”
(Malachi 2:6)

I would love for You to be able to say that about me, Jesus!

Sin robs my friends, family
church members, coworkers

of so much.

But what’s the best way to turn them away from sin’s ugly clutches?

Should I warn them of its consequences?
show them examples of those who’ve caved in?

Or is the most effective help I could ever give them

to live a pure, overcoming, sin-conquering life
myself?
