Pray this Lazaroo in surrendered gratitude:

“…the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself.”
(Hebrews 3:3)

You’re my Builder, Jesus…

I’m one of the countless “houses” You’re building.

Without question, You deserve not just greater honor, but all the honor!

I wasn’t doing so well before I asked You to take over the job.

I mean, for a while I thought I could handle it
but it didn’t take me long to face the fact
that I was badly, badly mistaken.

Pray this Lazaroo with white-hot fervor:

“…you have plundered many nations…”
(Habakkuk 2:8)

Some nations are like that, Jesus.

So are some people.

They’re not happy with what You’ve given them.

They want more.

So they steal for themselves

what You’ve given others.

Some of them get away with it

for a while.

But as surely as You’re the righteous Judge

a day of reckoning is coming

swiftly for some
later for others

but from the moment they cross that line

it’s on the way.

Pray this Lazaroo in full devotion:

“They all march in line, not swerving from their course.”
(Joel 2:7)

If locusts can do that, Jesus…

why can’t I?

Oh, I do well for a while…

then all of a sudden, I swerve
leave the lane You’ve marked out for me.

Do I make it back on course?

Sure. Here I am, talking with You right now
and grateful to be doing it.

But I would really like to mature to the point

where I never stray.

Pray this Lazaroo in sobered assessment:

“You have abandoned your people…”
(Isaiah 2:6)

It certainly seems like that during some seasons, Jesus

and in reality, You do abandon Your people
for a time.

When we repeatedly sin against You

You withdraw.

It’s one thing when we try and fail

repent, get up and try again.

But it’s an entirely different matter

when we willingly, knowingly, deliberately reject You.

That’s when You back off for a while

and let us stew
in our own foul juices.
