Pray this Lazaroo in humble acknowledgement:

“‘Moab will become like Sodom, the Ammonites like Gomorrah—a place of weeds and salt pits, a wasteland forever. The remnant of my people will plunder them; the survivors of my nation will inherit their land.’ This is what they will get in return for their pride…”
(Zephaniah 2:9-10)

Solomon said it, Jesus:

“Pride goes before destruction,
a haughty spirit before a fall.”

Sadly, he experienced it.

So will I, unless I remember:
You are the Giver of my gifts.

Pray this Lazaroo with thanksgiving:

“I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.”
(Ephesians 3:14-15)

It all comes from You, Jesus!

No matter what we call ourselves

we will always be Your creation.

No matter how much we accomplish

it will always be with Your strength.

No matter how many good days we enjoy on this earth

You are the Giver of every one.

May I always remember…

and may my heart continually be filled with gratitude.

Pray this Lazaroo in Godly determination:

“The priests, who were heads of families, numbered 1,760. They were able men, responsible for ministering in the house of God.”
(1 Chronicles 9:13)

Make me like these, Jesus –

able…and responsible –
ministering in Your house.

Only You – the Giver of every good gift –

can make me competent to do Your Work!

Help me be truly responsible –

fulfilling my duties day after day, without fail.

And no matter where You place me in Your Church –

from the front to the back pew –

use me to minister to Your precious people!

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“The pride of your heart has deceived you…”
(Obadiah 1:3)

Pride will do that, Jesus.

The moment I get to thinking it’s all me

and forget that everything I have is from You

I’ve committed the same fatal mistake as Your angel Lucifer

who lost his place in heaven.

“Pride goes before destruction,
a haughty spirit before a fall.”

May I never forget:

You’re the Giver of every good and perfect gift!

I’m the totally, wholly, utterly

unworthy recipient.

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful reverence:

“And this is love…”
(2 John 1:6)

When You begin a sentence with those words, Jesus

I need to be on the edge of my seat, paying close attention.

My definition of love has no meaning if it’s not the same as Yours.

You’re the Inventor of love.

You’re its Creator
its Perfect Example
its Giver
its Sustainer.

You’re the very definition of love.

If I want to understand love

all I have to do is look at You.

Consider carefully, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Do not love…anything in the world.”
(1 John 2:15)

That’s…a strong command, Jesus.

But obviously, it’s one I need
or You wouldn’t have given it.

Sometimes I become so enamored with one of Your gifts

that I become attached to it
think I’ve gotta have it
gotta keep it.

Wrong.

I’m going to have to say goodbye

to everything I wear, drive, live in,
use, eat, enjoy, hear or see.

This world is not my home.

I’m just passing through.
