Pray this Lazaroo in deepest gratitude:

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.”
(Ephesians 3:16-17)

It really does take a miracle to accomplish that, doesn’t it, Jesus?

Do I have a part?
Sure.

But try though I might, I can’t conjure up saving faith.

That kind of faith is a gift from You
straight from heaven.

That faith is mine!

You’re the Branch, Jesus –

the promised Messiah!

You came, You taught, You worked miracles

then gave Your life on the cross
that all who trust You will have eternal life!

This is terrifying, Jesus.

You’ve just described what is happening now
before my very eyes.

Sins that people used to commit in shame and darkness
they now proudly display in broad daylight
urging others to join them.

You!

The Creator of the universe and everything in it
King of kings and LORD of lords
Savior of everyone in the world who believes

living in me!

What a day that was, Jesus!

So much happiness, so much hope, so much rejoicing.

Times of beginning are glorious.

After all, most people never start!

Sadly, however, the rest of the story is this:

Far more people begin than finish.

I long to do both, Father!

A great start…all the way straight through to a great finish.

When You make a promise, Jesus

You keep it.

Though inadequately…I do love You!

That means the kingdom You promised

is mine.

Wow.

I don’t know what it will look like.

I’m not even sure what all it means.

But this I do know about You:

Whatever glorious, awesome, mind-blowing grandeur I can imagine

You will surpass.

That should get me through these rough patches in the meantime.

Those are strong words, Jesus.

Solomon was determined to put his brother Adonijah to death
that very day –

which he did.

But unless You’re the one who puts those words in my mouth

I don’t plan to ever speak them.

You live!

There is nothing more certain or more sacred
than that overriding, glorious, awe-inspiring truth.

My intentions – no matter how fervent –

will always pale in comparison.
